Seven snags a Thursday night win with Wimbledon coverage

Seven’s coverage of Wimbledon day four has given the network an easy Thursday night win, as 311,000 metro viewers tuned in to watch coverage which included Ashleigh Barty’s win against Alison Van Uytvanck.

The success of the tennis helped Seven to an overall network audience share win, holding 35.2% and made 7Two the most-watched multi-channel with 8.8%.

Seven also held the most-watched show for the night, with Seven News bringing in 1.025m viewers. Overall, the network’s primary channel held a winning 20.1% audience share.

Nine News brought in 884,000 metro viewers. The other big performers for the network were A Current Affair on 658,000, and Hot Seat with 542,000. Nine’s coverage of the NRL match between St George Illawarra Dragons and the Melbourne Storm, which aired on the primary channel Sydney and Brisbane, and 9Gem in other markets, brought in 285,000 metro viewers.

The same NRL match was the most-watched program on Foxtel, bringing in 205,000 viewers on Fox League. It took an easy win over Discovery Channel’s Aussie Gold Hunters on 68,000.

In the key advertising demographics, Ten was the winner, with Masterchef topping all three – 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s. The show brought in 606,000 metro viewers, making it the most-watched for the network, above The Project’s second half hour at 7pm which brought in 433,000.

Seven was the most-watched channel overall for metro audiences 25-54, holding a 18.5% audience share. The channel also took the top spot with 16-39 metro audiences on 19.5%.

ABC News was the sixth most-watched program for the evening, with 647,000 viewers tuning in. 7.30 was the next highest on 537,000.

Overall in the audience shares, Nine held second behind Seven, landing a 16.7% share, over Ten’s 11.6% and ABC’s 10.0%. In the networks, the story was the same, Nine held 24.8%, Ten 17.8% and ABC 15.1%.
