While the primary channel had been tied for share with Channel Ten on Thursday, two strong performances including a 23/7% share on Saturday handed it a comfortable win, as Ten managed just 7.5% and Nine 13.3%.

Seven’s best performer was news at 6pm which had 1.056m viewers, with Nine’s news managing just 780,000 against it.

AFL also performed strongly with 501,000 viewers in Melbourne and Adelaide for the Adelaide Crows defeat to Geelong in the evening, and 316,000 in the two cities for the afternoon match between Hawthorn and Richmond at 3pm.

ABC grabbed second spot on Saturday with 13.7% share, with The Coroner (699,000)and Gardening Australia (505,000) performing well again.

The Tour De France on SBS had 242,000 viewers for the penultimate stage, ahead of the finish in Paris tonight.

Nine’s best non-news shot was Getaway, which had 353,000 viewers.

Overall Seven finished the week with a 19.1% share, ahead of Nine’s 16.6% and Ten’s 15.8%.

The weekly win leaves Seven needing three more survey week wins to claim victory for the year, a feat it will likely achieve in the next month, with its Olympics coverage which kicking off on August 6.

Standing in its way will be the season finale of Masterchef on Ten on Tuesday night, before the launch of the new season of The Bachelor on Wednesday, which could help the third-placed network steal a rare weekly win.
