Seven takes Tuesday lead, while Ten dominates in key demographics
The Seven Network had a commanding lead in Tuesday’s ratings, while Ten came in second bettering its result from the same day last week.
In overall channel share of free-to-air TV viewing, Seven attracted 28.3 per cent, up from last week’s 26.1 per cent, while Ten had 25.1 per cent, also up from last week’s 24.4 per cent.
Nine, which came in third yesterday managed 24.3 per cent, down from 26.7 per cent last week, according to preliminary overnight OzTam data in the main metro markets.
Ten’s Masterchef again led the most-watched list with an average audience of 1.768m, followed by Seven News with 1.597m and then Australia’s Got Talent with 1.587m – which was slightly up from last Tuesday’s result.
Among people aged 16-39 and 18-49, Masterchef was number one, followed by Ten’s new US show Modern Family, Nine’s Top Gear in third and another Ten show NCIS in fourth.
Ten’s took out the top three spots among 25-54s with the same shows as above, with Top Gear in fourth place.
In the main metro markets, Masterchef narrowly led in Sydney, ahead of Australia’s Got Talent, while the cooking show also led in Melbourne and Adelaide.
In Brisbane, Seven News was ahead of Masterchef, while in Perth Seven News was also the leader, followed by Today Tonight.
Meanwhile, Nine’s new series, Australian Druglords, saw 952,000 tune in at 8:40pm. It was up against the strong-rating NCIS at 8:30pm and Australia’s Got Talent which was followed by Grey’s Anatomy at 9pm. The Nine show rated marginally higher than Gray’s Anatomy.
