Seven West Media appoints Julia Lefort as director of corporate affairs and publicity

Seven West Media has found its new comms boss, with Julia Lefort taking on the role vacated by Stephen Browning in October.

Lefort joins from the NSW Government where she was director of communications for the Department of Premier and Cabinet, a position she held for just over a year.

Prior to her time with the NSW Government, Lefort spent three years with Westfield parent company Scentre Group and 10 years with Westfield itself. From 2000 – 2003, Lefort was the public relations manager for Seven’s Pacific Magazines.

Seven’s chief marketing officer, Charlotte Valente, welcomed Lefort to the role.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Julia to the team. Her experience in shaping and leading communication strategies across both corporate and consumer stakeholders will be key as we continue to transform Seven West Media into an audience-centric business,” said Lefort.

“Julia is perfectly suited to lead both our corporate affairs and publicity teams, driving strategy and ensuring synergistic messaging across both functions.”

Lefort said she was excited to join the media business at ‘such an exciting moment.

“I’m delighted to be joining Seven West Media at such an exciting moment. The Seven brand is a tremendously powerful one, reaching 18 million Australians each month and I am looking forward to shaping and driving the way with communicate with our audiences into the future.

“I’m excited to be working as part of the SWM team as we continue to transform the business.”

Seven is in the process of trying to sell Pacific Magazines to Bauer Media, a transaction which is currently at the mercy of the ACCC, and trying to acquire Prime Media, a transaction which was blocked at the most recent vote by shareholders Bruce Gordon and Antony Catalano.
