Seven wins Friday night with news, cricket, and Better Homes and Gardens

Seven won the Friday night TV ratings battle with a primary channel audience share of 21.1%, ahead of Nine’s 15.8%, ABC’s 12.9%, and Ten’s 10.7%.

The top-rating program of the night was Seven News with 771,000 metro viewers, and 394,000 in the regions.

Seven often dominates Friday nights 

The most-watched entertainment program was also on Seven, with Better Homes and Gardens capturing 483,000 in the cities and 793,000 in total.

Up against Better Homes and Gardens in prime-time was Bondi Vet: Coast to Coast on Nine, which had 285,000 metro viewers, and 404,000 in total. Ten’s The Living Room had 367,000, and 510,000. Gardening Australia on the ABC had 378,000, and 588,000.

Earlier in the day, the second day of the first cricket test between Australia and Pakistan had 276,000 metro viewers for session one. This climbed to 415,000 with the addition of regional viewers. Session two had 322,000 in the cities, and 509,000 in total. Session three was the most-watched with 457,000 in the cities, and 716,000 in total.

Seven’s Sunrise also won the breakfast battle with 274,000 in the five metro markets, compared to Nine’s Today, which had just 190,000. Including regional viewers, Sunrise had 434,000 and Today climbed to 278,000.

With the addition of multi-channels, Seven also won the night on a network basis, with a 32.5% share, ahead of Nine’s 25.2%, ABC’s 18.1%, and Ten’s 16.6%.

SBS’ primary channel had 4.4%, and it had 7.6% as a network.
