Seven wins network share but Nine is #1 channel on Thursday

Seven took the title of the top-rating network on a quiet Thursday night, while Nine celebrated being the #1 primary channel with Nine News the top metro program overall.

Nine News aired to 985,000 metro viewers, and was also the #1 metro program in the 25-54 demo. Seven News had 982,000 metro viewers, but was the top program nationally with 1.605 million.

The other two key advertising demos, 16-39 and 18-49, were both won by Ten’s MasterChef, which brought in 599,000 metro viewers to be the best non-news program and #7 overall.

Honours were split between Seven and Nine

Seven’s metro network share was 28% on Thursday, ahead of Nine’s 27.5%, Ten’s 20.4% and ABC’s 15.2%. But Nine had a 19.0% single-channel share ahead of Seven on 18.2%.

The #1 multi-channel for the night was 7Mate with a 3.9% share.

Among entertainment programs, the only two outside of MasterChef to land in the top ten overall for Thursday were The Chase Australia with 552,000 metro viewers and Home And Away with 529,000 metro viewers.

Nine’s Thursday Night NRL Live brought in 334,000 metro viewers, while Seven’s The Front Bar aired to 389,000 metro viewers.

On the ABC, Q+A landed outside the top twenty metro programs with 233,000 viewers, while Foreign Correspondent brought in 360,000 metro viewers.
