Seven wins the final battle before 2012 ratings war officially begins

Seven has romped home in the final week before the TV ratings season officially begins.

And despite Ten trotting out some of its biggest programming guns early, the network trailed a poor third in all key demographics.

In all people, Seven won with a share of 23.6% to Nine’s 19.6% and Ten’s 13.9%. ABC1 took 11.9% and SBS1 4.8%.

In the key advertising demo of age 25-54, the battle was slightly closer with Seven taking 24.7% to Nine’s 20.5% and Ten’s 16.2%.

Ten also struggled in its traditional heartland of 16-39, rating 17.3%. Nine took 19.9% and Seven 24.6%.

SBS1’s struggle to stay relevant in younger demographics – and to gain advertising share – was demonstrated by it’s poor showing – it’s 3% share was behind the three primary commercial channels and the ABC, but also tenth behind Freeview channels Go, Gem, One, 11, and 7Mate.
