Seven wins TV ratings week thanks to House Rules and news

Seven has won the TV ratings week with with a 31.2% share, thanks in part to the success of its home renovation show House Rules and its news program.

Seven and Nine’s Sunday news shows provided them the largest metro audiences, with 1.19m and 1.05m respectively.

Nine achieved a 26.6% total network share.

Despite Ten’s strong Masterchef showings, with 920,000 metro viewers on Wednesday and 873,000 on Monday, the network couldn’t compete with Seven and Nine on overall audience share, achieving just 17.8% in total network share.

Also in total network share, ABC pulled in 15.9% of the audience, while SBS managed 8.4%.

On a main channel level, Seven also took the top share with 20.7% compared to Nine’s 18.0% and Ten’s 12.8%

ABC achieved a 11.3% main channel share, while SBS managed 5.9%, despite various World Cup games throughout the week.

The difference between Nine’s main channel and total network shares was helped by Love Island Australia, which provided 263,000 viewers on its multichannel 9Go!.

Have You Been Paying Attention? and Masterchef performed well for Ten in key advertising demographics 25-54 and 16-39, achieving the most-watched programs for each.

The two shows meant Ten achieved a larger share in these demographics than in overall share, with a main channel share of 22.3% of the 25-54 audience, compared to Nine’s 27.6% and Seven’s 31.8%.

In 16-39, Ten’s network share was 23.5% compared to Nine’s 27.4% and Seven’s 32.3%.
