Seven’s My Kitchen Rules only program to break through 1m audience barrier

Seven has dominated Wednesday night television seeing an overall audience share of 24.9%, with Seven’s My Kitchen Rules the only program to reach one million metro viewers for the night.

Reality cooking show MKR was the most watched program for the evening pulling 1.207m metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Nationally – taking into account both regional and metro affiliate stations where the program is broadcast – MKR saw 1.865m tune in.

The program was also the most watched across the key advertising demographics all people, 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Also airing at 7.30pm, Nine’s documentary Spy in the Wild averaged 392,000 metro viewers and was beaten by ABC’s current affairs program 7.30 which was watched by 582,000.

Nationally, the Spy in the Wild managed 589,000 while 7.30 averaged 843,000.

Nine finished well behind Seven with a 15.4% share as Ten grabbed a 9.5% share.

ABC managed to beat Ten and come in third with 11.7% as SBS reported a a 6.3% share.

In the news battleground, Seven News at 6pm pulled in 1.111m metro viewers while at 6.30pm it saw 1.065m tune in for Seven News/Today Tonight.

In contrast, Nine News at 6pm had 954,000 metro viewers tune in and 918,000 at 6.30pm.

ABC’s documentary Anh’s Brush with Fame, featuring an episode based around Rosie Batty, grabbed 597,000 metro viewers at 8pm and 889,000 nationally.

Nine’s A Current Affair topped the 7pm timeslot with 813,000 metro viewers and 1.125m nationally, beating Seven’s Home Away which had a  metro audience of 741,000 and national audience of 1.254m and Ten’s  The Project, which at 7pm had a metro audience of 479,000.
