Seven’s AFL coverage delivers Thursday share win

Seven’s AFL coverage and strong news ratings helped it secure both a channel and network share win for Thursday night.

The AFL coverage of the Adelaide Crows and Geelong Cats game averaged 675,000 metro viewers, with that number rising to 876,000 when combined with regional viewers.

Nine’s NRL covers of the Sydney Roosters and Brisbane Broncos game brought in 423,000 metro viewers across the Sydney and Brisbane markets.

Seven News was the most watched program of the night with 884,000 metro viewers, rising to 1,349,000 combined with regional. Nine News brought in 861,000 metro viewers.

In the breakfast battle, Sunrise pulled 280,000 metro viewers while Today averaged just 188,000.

Seven was the most watched channel of the night, averaging a share of 24.4%, ahead of Nine’s 18.4%, Ten’s 11.4% and ABC on 9.6%.

Ten’s had a rare-for-2019 win over ABC thanks to reality show Gogglebox. The show saw 579,000 metro viewers tune in.

In the secondary channels 10 Bold was the top channel with a share of 4.0%. 7TWO and 7mate both had 3.7%.

Seven won the network battle with a share of 36% to Nine’s 24.9% and Ten’s 17.4%
