Seven’s Beach Cops season premiere down on last year, The Block dominates

The premiere of Seven’s new season of Beach Cops, was down more than 300,000 viewers from its season one premiere.

The program, which aims to give a glimpse into the daily lives of police across Sydney’s Northern beaches, aired in the 8:00pm time slot with 684,000 viewers, while its first season achieved 1.002m. beach-cops

Despite the decline, the program was the most watched in the 8:00pm slot, with the ABC’s Hard Quiz grabbing 628,000 viewers.

Nine’s The Block was the most watched non-news program of the evening reaching 1.032m viewers. The program attracted 126,000 viewers more than last Wednesday night.

The Block was also number one across the key advertising demographics (16-39), (18-49), (25-54).

Channel Nine also won the shares at 29.2% ahead of Seven which achieved an audience share of 26.5%. Channel Ten and the ABC were not far behind, pulling 19.0% and 17.3%, respectively.

Also in the 7:30pm slot, Seven’s Highway Patrol attracted 660,000 viewers, ahead of Ten’s the Bachelorette with 592,000 viewers, down on last week’s double date stand off. 

Despite its decline, The Bachelorette was the second most watched program amongst the 16-39s, and third most watched programs for the 18-49s and 25-54s.

Nine’s Doctor Doctor, which aired at 8:40pm was up from last week, attracting 845,000 viewers. It was the second most watched program across the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics.

Ten’s The Wrong Girl saw a drop of 41,000 viewers, pulling 519,000 last night, but was ahead of the ABC’s Upper Middle Bogan which achieved 505,000 viewers, down from 574,000 last week.

In the hotly-contested news time slots, Seven won the evening, with 1.038m viewers tuning in at 6:00pm and 966,000 viewers for Seven News at 6:30pm

Channel Nine achieved an audience of 909,000 viewers at 6:00pm and 918,00 in the 6:30pm time slot.
