Seven’s My Kitchen Rules fails to fire up ratings
Seven’s big new hope to take on Ten’s MasterChef, My Kitchen Rules has had a disappointing ratings launch, with Nine taking the night led by a new episode of Two and a Half Men.
My Kitchen Rules was only the ninth most watched programme for the evening with 1.1 million viewers, while the return of Desperate Housewives attracted just over one million, according to preliminary overnight OzTam data in the five metropolitan markets.
By comparison, MasterChef’s first episode attracted 1.4 million viewers. Its daily show averaged 1.5 million and the MasterChef Challenge Sunday shows averaged 1.7 million. The finale attracted 3.29 million viewers.
Meanwhile, Two and a Half Men was the most watched show last night with 1.5 million, while The Mentalist came in fourth – behind Seven News and Today Tonight – with 1.3 million viewers.
Still at Nine, The Hot Seat, hosted by Eddie McGuire, attracted 493,000 viewers, ahead of Seven’s Deal or No Deal with 481,000. However, the Seven programme was scheduled in the 5pm slot against Nine’s Antiques Roadshow. From today Deal or No Deal will return to its usual time slot of 5:30pm.

Any TV show trying to attract viewers with the whole state vs. state thing will fail. Boring!

They were so desperate to boost ratings on the day that it aired that they handed out badly printed wooden spoons with the program name on it all over town.

Tv ratings are so biased and incomparable. I dont know ANYONE with the black monitoring box. I’d like to know how accurate they think it is…

Nadine. Couldn’t agree with you more. What is with those S.A contestants. I spend every viewing moment in awe at there bitchiness, comments and the looks they give. I am not the only one who see’s this. So here’s to every contestant and i hope its a disaster for them. I give 1/10 for there personallity.

You need to start a new section, called Mumsasters or mumfailures or some other ‘mum’ thing.
Mumfarrago maybe. That has a ring to it. Anyway…
This thing was doomed from the get go. It was so hair-brained (or is that hare-brained) I don’t know. Whatever. (will some one clarify this for me please?) The point is there is way more hair (or hare) than brain.
Ok, there are words for this – lame, derivative, wait… I’m not going to list these… it’s self evident. The amazing thing is that there is an element of surprised attached to this failure.
Seriously, it’s like someone expected this thing to work.
Look at Monday’s top 15 shows – they are all stupid.
Monday is lobotomy night on TV.
Clearly, it should have been obvious that the whole ‘idiot’ market was well catered for and that they should have used the time slot to re-run something from the Discovery Channel.
Or something with puppies.
If I was the ABC or SBS I‘d be running something about art or Opera or whatever it is people with educations watch because come Monday smart people are left with nothing to watch.
Maybe they are cooking. Maybe there are dinner parties and cheeses and conversations about Alain De Botton and French things and stuff like that.
How many babies are conceived on Monday nights? I’d like to see OZTAM data on this.
Anyway, I’ve sort of lost track on what it was I was going to say, something about the Mentalist maybe… who knows, after all it’s Monday night.
Hugs and kisses
