Seven’s Tokyo 2020 coverage dominates latest VOZ reports

Seven’s coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics not only delivered linear television ratings success but also brought in big numbers across digital consumption, according to the most recent Total TV Top 20 Programs Consolidated 7 Audience reports from VOZ.

TV ratings Week 31, covering 25 to 31 July, and Week 32 from 1 to 7 August, show Seven’s complete dominance of the two recent weekly periods.

In the former week, 16 out of the top 20 programs reported by VOZ were sessions of the Olympics on Seven, with the other four made up by Seven News bulletins.

The top-rating sessions delivered a national audience of 2.64 million, including 166,000 thousand viewers on BVOD service 7Plus.

It was a similar story for Week 32, which covered the majority of the second week of Tokyo 2020. Once again, Seven’s coverage of the games took out 16 of the top 20 spots for consolidated 7 day audience report over both linear and BVOD.

The #1 rating Olympics session from day 9 of the games had a whopping 3.302 million viewers nationally, including 215,000 on BVOD.

Seven News – Sunday during the week in question was the #2 program with 2.79 million viewers, with 3 other Seven News programs taking positions in the top 20 during the week.

In addition, Week 30’s report from 18 to 24 July had Olympics events take out four of the top five programs, despite only two days of the Olympics taking place in the ratings week.

Mumbrella understands that OzTam is currently working with Australia’s television broadcasters to begin releasing daily seven-day consolidated Total TV VOZ reports in tandem with metro overnight figures, but that no date has been set on when these reports will begin.
