Shameless lands highest ever position in latest podcast rankings

Shameless Media’s flagship podcast has jumped three places to crack the top spot in the Triton Digital podcast rankings for January.

In the first month of 2024, the Shameless podcast drew a monthly listenership of 516,000 across seven new episodes, driving the title to its highest ever finish in the Triton Digital rankings.

At the same time, Audioboom’s Casefile True Crime dropped into second place, still managing to reach 479,799 monthly listeners despite publishing no new content.

“We are stoked to see Shameless Podcast take out the top spot for the first time in the show’s history,” said Shameless Media co-founder and host, Michelle Andrews. “Very happy to keep Casefile and Hamish and Andy’s crown warm while they were on a much-deserved summer break.”

Meanwhile, the ABC also celebrated its highest ever ranking, as its Conversations podcast rose to third position with 455,637 listeners over 18 episodes.

Mamamia Out Loud fell two places into fourth position, with 387,308 listeners over 19 episodes, while LiSTNR’s Hamish & Andy rounded out the top five, still bringing in 364,578 monthly listeners during its annual summer hiatus.

Overall, podcast downloads in January grew 33 per cent YoY, totaling 90.3 million, also ahead of the previous month’s 81.2 million downloads.

ARN’s iHeart was top publisher in January, with 4.510 million monthly listeners and 15.777 million monthly downloads, some way ahead of SCA’s LiSTNR, which took second place with 2.926 million monthly listeners and 8.371 million downloads.

Overall, SCA had the top sales team, representing LiSTNR, as well as Schwartz Media, SiriusXM, audiochuck, Wondery, DM Podcasts and NBCUniversal News Group, to reach a collective 6.768 million monthly listeners and 22.472 million monthly downloads.
