Sharron Meissner passes away

sharron meissnerThe founder of media agency Total Retail Advertising has passed away after a short illness.

The death of Sharron Meissner, who set up Total Retail Advertising in 1996, was announced this morning.

Earlier in her career, she spent 14 years with the Seven Network.

The announcement:

Respected Sydney media buyer Sharron Meissner died in St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney last week after falling ill when she returned to Australia from an overseas holiday.

Sharron began her advertising career with Schofield Sherbon Baker, working with mentor David Baker until she joined the Seven Network in the early 80s to work with Michael Harrison.

She worked in direct advertising with the Network until 1994 when she was headhunted for a Sales Director role with Australia’s first home shopping channel, The Value Channel.

In 1996, Sharron set up her own media planning and buying business Total Retail Advertising, which was restructured in early 2011.

Sharron was on the home stretch to retirement from the industry that she loved to enjoy her life, friends and family.
