Shortlist revealed for Mumbrella Awards 2015
The shortlist has today been revealed for this year’s Mumbrella Awards.
The Mumbrella Awards is the only industry awards where every category goes through a live judging process in front of a senior industry jury.
Next Tuesday will see dozens of teams from across the media and marketing industry converge on the Hilton in Sydney for an intense day of judging featuring ten juries sitting simultaneously.
Next Wednesday and Thursday will see a roving jury travel to Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney to see the six finalists for creative agency of the year in person.
And Friday will see a roving jury visit the five finalist media agencies.
Key battlegrounds include media agency of the year, which sees independents Bohemia and Match pitted against WPP’s MEC, Omnicom’s OMD and Publicis’s Starcom MediaVest.
And creative agency of the year will see Colenso BBDO Auckland attempt to hang on to the crown for a third year against competition from previous winner Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, along with Cummins & Partners Melbourne, Leo Burnett Sydney, M&C Saatchi Sydney and The Monkeys.
PR agencies doing battle include Edelman, Mango, Weber Shandwick, Pulse, Access PR, and Red Agency.
The media brand of the year will include radio rivals Kiis FM and smoothFM doing battle, along with Sound Alliance’s travel brand for Qantas AWOL, viral site Buzzfeed, Pedestrian.TV, Spotify and News Corp’s taste.com.au.
Kiis parent Australian Radio Network and smoothFM parent Nova Entertainment will also be up against each other for sales team of the year, along with TV rivals Multi Channel Network and Nine Entertainment Co plus Salmat and AdRoll.
Entries for the Mumbrella Awards reached a record high, including in the marketing team of the year category, where brand teams from Barnardos, Tourism Australia, IAG, Sportsbet and MLA will do battle.
Australia’s favourite TV ad – the only ad of its type judged by extensive public opinion survey – is between Budget Direct’s Captain Risky, two campaigns for Meat & Livestock Australia, ALDI, Devondale and Bundaberg Rum.
The Mumbrella Awards will be presented at The Star Event Centre in Sydney on the night of Thursday June 4. The awards will be presented by comedian, radio and TV star Dave Hughes.
The afterparty downstairs at Marquee nightclub will include a three hour set from Hot Dub Time Machine.

Hang on Tommie, UM isn’t a media agency it is a “Creative Connections Agency” these days.

Typo on the comments section…UM isn’t a media agency, just a glorified trading desk.

RGA is a direct agency? At least all the creative agencies in town can stop fretting that RGA Sydney will live up to the hype of its New York and London counterparts.

Congrats to all.
Just a question, are only agency people considered for Under-30 Achiever of the year?
There are certainly a lot of very talented client side brand / category managers on big brands under 30 that don’t appear to get a look in for these awards (B&T ones seem no different mind you).
I know in agency land we like to think we’re smarter and work harder than the client (I don’t believe that’s true), but still….
