Simon Gaffney switches from BMF to head of copy at Mercer Bell

Simon Gaffney MercerBell mumbrellaBMF associate creative director Simon Gaffney has joined direct repsonse agency Mercer Bell in the newly created role of head of copy.

According to Mercer Bell, Gaffney’s remit will be “to ensure excellence in the creativity, and consistency in the tone, of copy for all of the agency’s campaigns – digital and direct – as well as mentoring the agency’s copywriters”.

Creative director David Bell said: “Most digital agencies don’t have a head of copy and leave that responsibility with each individual copywriter, preferring to spend time on the look and interactivity of campaigns. However, we believe that, whether paper of pixel, words are what deliver a brand’s essence and connect with customers and are just as important as the look and feel of a campaign. It’s also important that the tone of a client’s copy is consistent across both their digital and direct campaigns.”

Before BMF, Gaffney worked as a freelance copywriter for Pulse, Dare Digital, Meteorite and Communique and was also Head of Copy at Chemistry Communications.

He also worked in the UK, Simon as creative group head at Tull Marshall Warren.
