Simon Reeve to replace Grant Denyer on Million Dollar Minute
Grant Denyer will leave Channel Seven’s new gameshow Million Dollar Minute after less than three months and be replaced by Seven Sunrise and News presenter Simon Reeve, the network has announced.
Seven launched Million Dollar Minute in the 5.30pm timeslot in early September as ratings fell away for Andrew O’Keefe’s Deal or No Deal when up against Eddie McGuire’s Hot Seat on Channel Nine.
And Denyer was selected to host the show off the back of prime time ratings success for the Slide Show, which he presents.
However he has decided to give up the “gruelling” production schedule to spend more time with his family.
“This has been a difficult decision because I love the show, but it’s in the best interests of my family at this time and as much as I love working on the show, I know it’s the right decision,” Denyer said in a statement.
“The production schedule is gruelling and takes me away from home for extended periods of time. I’m pleased that I can pass the baton to Simon, who’s a good friend as well as a former colleague at Sunrise. I am a great admirer of Simon’s work and I know he’ll do a great job.”
Denyer, a former weatherman on Sunrise, left the breakfast show for the second time in March, also saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Reeve will start presenting Million Dollar Minute in the new year.
We can but imagine the pressures that Grant has been undergoing with a very busy schedule. I just hope he is fit and well and as such ask just one question “Grant RUOK?”
