Six producers win MIFF market placings
Robert Connolly, Lisa Shaunessy, Richard Lowenstein, Della Churchill, Philippa Campbell and Yael Bergman are the winners of the MIFF 37ºSouth Market Alliance, receiving places at the UK’s Production Finance Market, Abu Dhabi Circle and Strategic Partners (Canada) markets.
The first to attend these international events will be NZ-based Campbell and Bergman, who will go to Strategic Partners in September. Connolly, Shaunessy and Lowenstein will go to the PFM in October; Churchill will attend the Circle in the United Arab Emirates the same month.
The MIFF 37ºSouth Market saw 38 film financiers/buyers – including Participant (USA), Protagonist (Europe), IFC (USA), Wild Bunch (Europe), Essential (USA), BBC Films (Europe), Sierra (USA), Salt (Europe), Myriad (USA), Coach14 (Europe), Elephant Eye (USA), 6Sales (Europe), Film Sales Company (USA), U-media (Europe), Icon International (USA/Europe), Back-Up Films (Europe), ArcLight (USA), The Works (Europe), and Australian distributors Roadshow, Hopscotch, Transmission, Madman, ABC, Accent, Rialto, PackScreen and Umbrella -meet with a record 76 registered producers.
One-to-one meetings increased to 1,182 (13 percent up from last year and 45 percent up from 2008), across the market’s various strands (Bridging the Gap, PostScript&Direct and Books at MIFF).
