Sky News launches digital radio station across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane
Sky News Radio has launched a live audio stream of its Sky News television channel on the DAB digital radio band across the major metropolitan markets.
Sky News Radio will now broadcast across all DAB+ enabled radios, devices and vehicles within Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
The station is also available to stream on the Nova player, the smooth player, Star 104.5’s player, and FIVEAA player, plus at skynews.com.au, and via the Sky News Australia app.
This slide onto the DAB+ band means that Peter Stefanovic will be competing for listeners in the metro Breakfast markets, while Chris Kenny, Peta Credlin, Andrew Bolt, Sharri Markson, and Paul Murray (below) will be jostling for attention during the Drive slot.
Tim Love, Sky News Australia’s head of digital, said: “This year we’ve continued to grow our multi-platform offering and our launch into digital radio is another fantastic avenue that enables our network to extend the reach of our news, opinion and documentary programming to more Australians.”
This follows the launch of the radio channel across the apps for NOVA Entertainment’s portfolio of channels last year, the January launch of the direct-to-consumer SkyNews.com.au streaming subscription — which included four news channels — and the expansion of FAST channel Sky News Now to Samsung and LG connected TVs.
Sky News Radio on DAB+ will be available for commercial advertising through both NOVA Entertainment and Sky News sales teams.
