SLIK delivers innovative virtual stadium for Paralympics Australia
Indie creative agency SLIK is helping fans virtually engage with the Paralympic Games, all the while raising money for Paralympics Australia.
The experience provides participants with a virtual stadium for them “to play in and explore”. It allows people to view supportive messages, shop for merchandise, learn Para-athletes’ stories, witness player interactions, and view behind-the-scenes material.
SLIK collaborated with accessibility and useability consultants, as well as Para-athletes, to guarantee that experience is inherently accessible for all.
“We’ve worked hard to raise the bar for donation campaigns, turning a one way purchase process into an engaging virtual experience,” SLIK’s head of technology and co-founder, Kyle Bennett, said.
“We couldn’t be more proud to be helping Paralympics Australia in their mission to transform lives through the power of sport.”
According to Paralympics Australia’s interim chief executive officer, Cameron Murray, the virtual stadium is a win-win solution as it offers fans new levels of immersion and support, and provides Paralympics Australia with necessary funds.
“The innovative experience brings a new level of support and engagement to fans – all while delivering essential funding for our organisation, which is vital to the sustainability of Para-sport in Australia,” Murray explained.
He also praised SLIK’s work, saying: “SLIK’s creativity, innovation and enthusiasm for the project was critical in shaping the experience”.
The new stadium was work in the making for SLIK. Paralympics Australia appointed the agency with the task in March 2024, after a pitch process.
“We’re excited to be working with SLIK to build on the success of our existing fundraising programs,” Murray had said at the time.
“This innovative solution will deliver a new experience that will bring messages of support to athletes and engage audiences through content and a unique virtual experience – all while delivering essential funding for our organisation.”
