Slik hires Simon Jarosz as ECD and brings the UFC on as a client

Sydney digital creative agency Slik has appointed Simon Jarosz as its first executive creative director.

Jarosz joins from Mediacom, where he spent over three years as national creative director. He previously worked at Toast Creative and freelanced at JWT, VML, M&C Saatchi and Leo Burnett.

Simon Jarosz is now the ECD at Sydney agency Slik

Jarosz said of his appointment: “It’s an exciting time for our industry as we continue to see digital being the larger investment for businesses and, more than ever, the need for creative to be more deeply involved in successful client partnerships. I’m delighted to join a culture that’s always had this philosophy as its core belief, and to be part of the continuing growth and success of this awesome agency.”

Slik co-founder, Cooper LaPlanche, said: “We’ve been focused on bolstering our creative team with world-class talent and leadership and Simon’s background as a digital creative, plus his experience and understanding of how digital can deliver real results for our clients’ business needs, make him the perfect fit for Slik.”

The agency has also recently been engaged by mixed martial arts organisation UFC to create a global fan engagement platform.

The platform is to be called ‘UFC Staredown’ and will enable fans to front up against their favourite UFC fighters in a digital environment using facial recognition and AI technology. A user will be able to psych out the fighters in a stare down, in which they will receive a high score if they match the fighter’s intensity.

Slik co-founder, Kyle Bennett, spoke of the new project: “Stepping into the Octagon and onto the international stage to work with UFC is a huge thrill. What’s even more satisfying is that as an independent Australian digital creative agency, with a team of 25, we took on larger competition in the US and won.”
