Sling & Stone appointed by US footwear brand to support Australian launch

Sustainable US-based footwear brand Rothy’s has appointed Sling & Stone as its Australian PR agency to help support its launch into the local market.

The agency has been tasked with leading a multi-channel comms activation and driving mass awareness at launch.

The brand uses 3D knitting processes with threads made from recycled plastic to make its footwear. Having launched in 2016 in the US, it is now looking to enter the Australian market.

“Sling & Stone’s deep experience and passion in both fashion and sustainability came highly recommended by our US network,” said Rothy’s senior director of communications, Anna Dore.

“From the minute we met, we knew they understood our brand. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner to support our entry to market. They’ve quickly become a true extension of our in-house team.”

According to Rothy’s, since its inception, it has repurposed over 285 tonnes of marine plastic and 179 million plastic bottles into comfortable shoes, and accessories.

Sling & Stone’s Kasi Talbot, global head of consumer, said: “Rothy’s is such a respected, impressive international brand and it’s an honour to partner with them for their Australian launch.

“Rothy’s walks the talk when it comes to sustainable materials and manufacturing, comfort and style – the holy trinity of a cult fashion brand. It’s a more complex story to tell than any other regular label, which is why they’re such a perfect fit for our breed of brand communications.”

Rothy’s is the latest client to join Sling & Stone’s growing roster, alongside Levi’s, Boody, Who Gives a Crap and KeepCup, among others.

Last month, Mumbrella revealed that the agency was appointed by Domino’s as its ANZ PR partner. It was also recently appointed by Waterdrop, while Sling & Stone NZ was appointed by Lush.
