Independent media agency Slingshot has hired former PHD global business director Angela Feruglio to head its Melbourne office, Mumbrella can reveal.

Feruglio left PHD in July and had previously led the agency’s largest client ANZ.

“When we were looking to hire a Melbourne general manager Angela’s name came up on the list of everyone we spoke to,” said Simon Rutherford, CEO of Slingshot.

“She has an exceptional media background working in business development and management roles at some of the biggest agencies in the country and her understanding of the Melbourne market is second to none. We are delighted that she has joined Slingshot and we are looking forward to building the Slingshot Melbourne business with Angela at the helm.”

Slingshot opened its office in Melbourne in April after winning the $8m SPC Ardmona account.

Feruglio previously worked at Mindshare in a business and strategy role for six years, was at Starcom MediaVest for ten years and has worked at Leo Burnett and The Campaign Palace. She also lectures on advertising media strategy at RMIT University.

“Melbourne is a dynamic media market,” said Feruglio. “Slingshot’s offering is one that will resonate with those advertisers looking for a different approach when it comes to communications strategy. I’m looking forward to working with our existing clients here and growing the business further.”

Slingshot is understood to be on the shortlist for the $9m Slater & Gordon pitch which is underway in Melbourne.
