SMART founder and former McCann Australia chairman to speak at Mumbrella SAGE

Former chairman and CEO of McCann Australia, Ben Lilley, is the final speaker to be confirmed for Mumbrella SAGE, set to take place in Sydney next week.

Lilley is the founder of SMART and the former CEO and chairman of McCann Australia

Lilley founded creative agency SMART in 2000 after working for agencies including DDB Needham and George Patterson Y&R. The success of SMART led to Lilley selling the agency to IPG and then taking on the role of CEO and chairman of McCann Australia.

During his time at McCann Australia, the agency produced notable work including the famous Dumb Ways to Die campaign for Metro Trains in Victoria.

In 2018, Lilley decided to depart the agency and become an investor and entrepreneur. At Mumbrella SAGE, he will take part in a fireside chat moderated by Mumbrella Bespoke editor, Adam Thorn, discussing his industry experiences, what he looks for in an independent agency, transitioning from an independent to network to investor, and his views on the agency landscape today.

Mumbrella SAGE will also feature a significant group of industry leaders who among others include:

  • Ian Perrin, chief accelerator, SPEED and former CEO of ZenithOptiedia
  • Jack Watts, CEO, Bastion Collective
  • Bobbi Mahlab, managing director, Mahlab
  • Alistair Angus, partner, SI Partners, based in Hong Kong
  • Samantha Ramlu, managing director and co-founder, Method based in Auckland
  • Jinn Powprapai, managing director and partner, CJ WORX based in Bangkok

In addition, Mumbrella SAGE will for the first time include access to a range of tailored workshops with limited capacity dealing with topics around KPIs, agency legalities and personal development.

Tickets to Mumbrella SAGE are available now. The conference will be held at the Amora Hotel Jamison in Sydney on February 21.
