Social Media Club Sydney another instant sellout

Places at the second meeting of Social Media Club Sydney have been snapped up as fast as they were for the first session.

The event, which takes place on June 15, will feature the potentially controversial topic of whether brands need an agency to run their social media campaigns. Some consultants claim they are better placed to do the job, while various types of agency claim to be best placed for the role.

Speaking on the panel will be Erik Ingvoldstad of ad agency McCann Erikson, Iain McDonald of digital agency Amnesia Razorfish, Geoff Emerson of Zing PR, Karla Courtney, online editor of Qantas Travel Insider and social media consultant Stephen Collins who also writes the Acidlabs blog.

The 290 places were snapped up in hours yesterday when they were announced on Social Media Club Sydney’s Facebook group. anyone who wants to go on a waiting list if further places become available should email cathie.mcginn @ geekdom.com (remember to remove the gaps we’ve inserted to avoid autospam).

At the first meeting – which featured Adam Ferrier of Naked and Fake Stephen Conroy Twitterer Leslie Nassar – demand was so heavy that video of the debate was piped to another floor of the venue.

The Twitter hashtag for the event is #SMCSYD.
