Something to Tell You commended at Hot Docs
The eight-minute short Something To Tell You, directed by Pete Gleeson and co-produced by Melissa Haywrd and Kate Neylon, has received an honourable mention at the Hot Docs documentary festival.
“I wanted the film to be both a tribute to the subject of the film – who refuses to accept the tacit expectations imposed on people with disabilities by mainstream society – plus an interrogation of our own attitudes toward people with disabilities as romantic prospects,” said Gleeson.
Something To Tell You is about a man who has developed a romantic relationship with a woman online, and must now reveal he suffers from a severe physical disability. It was funded through The Film and Television
Institute (WA)’s OOMPF (One Off Members Production Fund) scheme, with marketing assistance from ScreenWest and a Screen Australia travel grant to attend the event.
It will screen at Dungog and St Kilda film festivals later this month.
