Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has nabbed Vizeum Melbourne general manager Wade Kingsley for the newly created role of head of ideas and integration.

Kingsley is returning to radio two years after leaving Nova Entertainment, where he had the role of ideas director for two years. He joined Vizeum as general manager and head of business in July 2013.

He joins the broadcaster as it looks to rebuild after a difficult idea in the Sydney market which saw its 2DayFM station fall from first to last in the ratings after the departure of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson to rival KiisFM. Earlier this week SCA CEO Rhys Holleran announced he is stepping down in July.

SCA’s executive director metro operations Guy Dobson said: “We’re thrilled to have Wade on board in this new role where we’ll see him take charge of developing great ideas for client solutions.

“We are confident Wade will bring new creative thinking across the full breadth of our media assets both on air and across our digital and social media platforms.”

In his 15 years at Nova Kingsley helped launch the Brisbane station as promotions and marketing director and helped lead its digital operations. He takes on a similar role for SCA.

He added: “It’s an exciting time for me to join the hard working and dedicated team at SCA. They have many very talented practitioners of creativity on and off-air, and when I had a look around the market I knew that SCA had both the vision and commitment to be successful over the longer term.

“In media, there is no finish line. The battles are never won or lost each day or each individual ratings survey – they are ongoing. I look forward to leading the team to develop strategies that will be successful for our listeners, clients and shareholders over the long term.”

Wade starts on Monday, May 18.
