Speakers from Holden, Adelaide Utd, ARU, FFA, Mediabrands and Hawthorn announced for Sports Marketing Summit

An A League winner, the head of the ad standards bureau, Seven’s head of regulatory affairs and Holden’s head of sponsorship are among the latest speakers confirmed for next week’s Mumbrella Sports Marketing Summit at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse.

With some politicians calling for a ban on sports betting advertising Fiona Jolly, the CEO of the Ad Standards Bureau and Bridget Fair, group head of regulatory affairs at Seven West Media will join the panel for the sports betting debate session to take an in depth look at its future.

Emma Pinwill, the general manager marketing, brand and media strategy, for Holden’s parent company General Motors will be speaking on two panels, looking at Holden’s community rugby sponsorships around State of Origin and the Suite C panel at the end of the day, taking a high-level look at some of the issues raised during the day.

She will be joined on that final panel by chairman of IPG Mediabrands Melbourne Mark Pejic, who has worked on some of the biggest media accounts in the country during his 20 year career.

Adelaide United striker Bruce Djite joins the Ask an Athlete panel alongside cricketer Ed Cowan, Diamonds netballer Sharni Layton and Paralympian Carol Cooke to discuss the ins and outs of athletes working with brand partners and endorsement deals.

Australian Rugby Union’s commercial head Pete Scibberas has been added to the Should I Stay or Go panel session, looking at when sponsors should stick by a team or athlete, and when it’s time to drop them.

Head of women’s football for the Football Federation of Australia Emma Highwood joins the panel for More Women in Uniform, looking at what the opportunities are for sponsors and the media as female sports leagues gain popularity.

And Simone Blakers, the managing director of social media agency Society, will take to the stage to explain how non-partner brands can maximise their exposure during the Olympic Games which start a few days later.

Jeremy Millard,  membership, community and fan development manager at one of the best supported teams in the country the Hawthorn Hawks will share insights into how they are using fan data more effectively in the Do More With Your Data session.

They join the likes of ESPN international head of digital strategy Adam Deutsch, Iris Worldwide Singapore executive creative director Grant Baxter, GroupM’s head of mobile Venessa Hunt, NRL chief commercial officer and CEO of the Rugby League World Cup Michael Brown, Nine Network managing director Amanda Laing, Seven West Media CEO Tim Worner and Optus head of TV Paul Rybicki on the program.
