‘Unexpected events’ cancels Splendour in the Grass 2024

Just two weeks after unveiling its 2024 line-up, Splendour in the Grass has cancelled this year’s festival due to “unexpected events”.

The festival, which was supposed to take place July 19-21, 2024 at the North Byron Parklands, boasted a line-up featuring Aussie artists Kylie Minogue, G Flip and Tones and I, and international acts including Omar Apollo, Future, Yung Gravy and BBNO$.

ABC’s youth radio station triple j took to Instagram to announce the news, and shortly after, the official Splendour in the Grass Instagram account confirmed it.

“With a heavy heart, we’re announcing the cancellation of Splendour in the Grass 2024, originally scheduled from Friday 19 July to Sunday 21 July in Ndarindjin/North Byron Parklands,” the Instagram post said.

“We know there were many fans excited for this year’s line-up and all the great artists planning to join us, but due to unexpected events, we’ll be taking the year off.

“We thank you for your understand and will be working hard to be back in future years.”

Ticket holders will be automatically refunded by Moshtix.

Co-CEOs of Secret Sounds, the festival’s organiser, Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco, said: “We’re heartbroken to be missing a year especially after more than two decades in operation.

“This festival has always been a huge community effort, and we’d like to thank everyone for their support and overall faith. We hope to be back in the future.”

Splendour in the Grass is the latest Australian musical festival to collapse or be cancelled, after Groovin The Moo was canned earlier this year.
