Spotify on the hunt for an MD as Karen Lawson departs
Spotify’s local managing director Karen Lawson has left the business after less than a year in the role, Mumbrella can reveal.
The recruitment process for her replacement has begun.
Spotify – which traditionally does not comment on staff departures – declined the opportunity to speak about the matter.
Lawson took on the MD role in May last year, replacing Jane Huxley who had been promoted to managing director of the group across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
In addition to Spotify, Lawson spent time as CEO of Slingshot Accelerator and careerone.com.au. She also spent eight years in various roles with Yahoo7 before finishing as GM of business developments and partnerships in 2013.
Over the past year, Spotify has lost its head of automation and data, Dan Robins, and head of sales, Cassie Gilbert.
Robins was made redundant from Spotify and is now at PwC’s CMO Advisory as director of the media team.
Gilbert became agency lead at Pinterest.
The streaming giant did, however, gain Bauer Media’s former digital strategy and commercial director, Peter Manten as its new head of sales in September.
