Starcom Melbourne’s MD Peter Toone to leave agency after 11 years
The managing director of Starcom Melbourne, Peter Toone, has resigned and will leave the agency at the end of the year.
The agency is currently searching for his replacement.
Toone has been with Starcom for 11 years, working in roles including account director and group business director. He was appointed as Melbourne general manager in 2012 before moving into the managing director role in early 2016.
Toby Barbour, CEO at Starcom, said Toone had been a loyal and valued leader for the Melbourne office.
“On behalf of Starcom’s staff and clients, we would like to offer our sincere thanks to Peter for his commitment and leadership and wish him all the very best for the future as he seeks new opportunities,” Barbour said.
Toone said: “I have enjoyed an amazing 11 years with Starcom and have had the pleasure of working with some of the brightest people and most innovative clients in the country. The agency has grown and evolved enormously and I leave the business knowing it will continue to thrive moving forward. The time is right for me to move on and explore new opportunities in my career.”
It is not yet clear what Toone’s plans are for his next role.
Congratulations on what ever is next, Pete. Proof that integrity and respect each way are still pretty handy attributes in the tool bag.

Odds are Tooney will be showing up at 650 Chapel St sometime soon, right?

After trying to leave earlier in the year to go to MediaCom, I wonder if Peter can cope with running a big agency. So far he can’t run Starcom with any great success. Un-impressive
