Storyful expands Sydney team with senior editorial appointments

News Corp-owned Storyful has named former Daily Telegraph journalist Peter Bodkin as its new deputy editor.

His appointment follows that of Stephanie Hunt who has taken the role of senior editor.

Bodkin will take up the role of deputy editor at Storyful

Bodkin, who worked at the Telegraph between 2012 and 2014, joins from Irish media firm The Journal where latterly he was investigations editor.

For Hunt, it is her second stint at Storyful. She was Australian editor from 2016 to early 2018 after five and a half years as supervising producer of Weekend Sunrise.

Hunt has also worked for the BBC, Sky, Al Jazeera, WIN and Prime.

The appointments bring Storyful’s Sydney based team to seven. They produce local and global content for TV networks, publishers and media outlets in the US, EMEA, APAC and other markets.

Responsibility for East Asia shifted to Sydney last year after Storyful closed its Hong Kong operation as part of a strategic restructure.

“We’re delighted to have Stephanie lead the team,” Storyful New York-based editor-in-chief Darren Davidson said. “Stephanie is a proven editor with a keen news sense and a deep understanding of social media.

“Her editorial leadership will be vital to our growth plans in Australia and all of APAC.”
