Strongbow goes night surfing
Surf filmmaker Jack McCoy and Strongbow have produced an online video as part of the cider brand’s “Welcome to Summer” campaign that saw glow-in-the-dark surfing filmed at Bondi.
Developed by District Agency, the campaign used neon tubing on wetsuits and surfboards.
McCoy was joined by Bali Strickland and Eugene Tan to capture 17 surfers including Bondi Rescue’s Corey Oliver and Andrew Reid.
McCoy said: “When I heard about this crazy idea, I knew I had to be involved. I’ve never filmed anything like this in my 30-year career and it’s thanks to Strongbow that we had this great opportunity to mark summer in such an amazing, unique way. The Strongbow surfers were so pumped about getting out there that the energy was electric. It’s one of those sights you have to see to believe and really evokes that summer feeling.”
Around 200 guests were invited to Bondi Icebergs as the venue was transformed into a house party with astroturf, a BBQ and DJs including Channel V’s Danny Clayton, Gold Fields and Purple Sneakers.

A Sunshine Coast Surfer, Mark Visser did this in 40ft waves at Jaws in Maui back in January. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jfM1Vsl70k I am sure he would be flattered that someone thought to imitate the feat on a smaller scale.

Kinda cool.
But surfing 1 ft Bondi at night looks a bit limp after the night surfing session around the corner at Ours in the Fighting Fear Film that came out a few weeks ago.
