Subaru XV sold as ‘one woman’s needs and a man’s desire’ in mock blockbuster trailer

Subaru has launched a movie-trailer style campaign to push its new Subaru XV.

The 45-second commercial features a man and his partner riding in the new Subaru XV as a voiceover tells consumers to “buckle up” for the “big screen adventure” including the ‘drama’ of a ticket inspector,  tragedy and a “gripping performance.”

The ad positions the car as “one woman’s needs and a man’s desire”.

Subaru’s agency of record is Disciple.

The campaign is followed by more 15-second TV spots which include ‘Gavin’ driving with his mum as Siri reads out a message –  “giddy up big boy, it’s rodeo time” – while the mother looks shocked.

Another spot sees Gavin open and close the door with the dramatic voiceover stopping each time the door is shut.
