Summer Coda wraps shoot in Nevada
Richard Grays’ Summer Coda completed principal photography on March 19 in Nevada, USA.
Gray will now head to Los Angeles, where he will meet with sales agents, with a rough cut of the film.
Summer Coda began production on November 4 and finished its Australian shoot in Mildura in December, followed by weeks of post-production – but the US-set scenes were still pending. Cast and crew flew to the US on March 11 to complete the final scenes; a ‘special’ scene was shot outside the church used in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 2.
The fim stars Rachael Taylor and Alex Dimitriades, alongside Susie Porter, Angus Sampson, Nathan Phillips, Cassandra Magrath and Jacki Weaver.
Taylor plays a woman who, having grown up with her mother in Nevada, hasn’t spoken to her father since she was seven. Now a young woman, haunted by his memory, she returns to Australia seeking closure. Travelling to her hometown, she is forced to busk for cash and her violin catches the attention of an orange picker, who offers her a ride. Both are initially guarded, but an unexpected connection soon blossoms.
Summer Coda will be distributed by Jump Street Films and Sharmill Films.
