Suncorp continues ‘Money with Sunny’ push with series of new ads
Suncorp has released a series of new television commercials as part of its ‘Money with Sunny’ campaign based on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop music video.
In its latest ads, Suncorp has promoted its growth saver, income protection, home insurance and Apple pay offerings.
In its home insurance commercial the lead of the commercial, Sunny, is seen dancing in her house to Thrift Shop as the fire alarm sprinklers ruin the house.
In its Apple pay ad, Sunny asks her mother to “pay that new way” while Thrift Shop plays in the supermarket causing customers to break out in dance.
While Suncorp’s income protection ad shows Sunny telling some skaters how to keep their youth by buying income insurance.
Publicis is Suncorp’s creative agency of record and created the ‘Are you ready to money with Sunny’ brand campaign.
At the time of the campaign’s launch, Simone Waugh, MD at Publicis Groupe, said: “The Sunny campaign leverages Suncorp’s 100-year heritage in being there for customers in the moments that matter most. Sunny marks a new era for the Suncorp brand and will make banking and insurance tasks easier and ultimately make dreams feel more attainable.”
Am I missing something? Not having a go at the talent (very Brent street, but cute and bubbly and shows conviction…), but they are just such cringey ads. ‘Pay the new way’…sheesh who writes this stuff?

Love these ads.So entertaining.Hope there are more to come.My favourite is the one with the TVs.I remember scooping my son up and carrying him off in exactly the same way as this mum.Watching her dancing around in the water with that total look of joy on her face is just delightful.Just seeing this little girls happy face makes my day.Who ever wrote these scripts has a great sense of fun and the little girl is the perfect choice.Well done.

I strongly dislike these commercials. The precocious child is annoying, the cutsie pie bouncy makes me want to scream. I change the channel when these ads come on. I actually bank with Suncorp but that can change. The most irritating adds on TV.
Before I get jumped on, I’m not against everything – the Wooly wooly ad for Woolworths is just wonderful and it makes me watch because it is fun and sweet – take note agencies – more of that type of commercial would be lovely.

What is the girl actually saying? I can’t understand her and the ad finishes really quickly so its hard to make out what’s going on.?

Oh no a cutsie pie bouncy girl. Heaven forbid. How dare she be happy, vibrant and full of life while you’re just wanting to scream….
It is easier to build up a child than to repair an adult so choose your words wisely. Hope your life improves.

It’s not a fire sprinkler, it’s the tap on the kitchen sink that has exploded – and if my child started dancing around the kitchen in that instance instead of coming to get me, they wouldn’t sit down for a week.

You’re kidding right Oscar because if you’re not then you are totally out of touch with reality. This is an ad.Its not real. She is acting. It isn’t a real kitchen. Its a set.The room is full of adults.Cameramen, sound people, producer,a parent or guardian. They created the leak for the ad and it can be turned on and off at will.Get it.Not real.

When I feel blue I watch Sunnys ads
My youngest grandaughter looks like her and has the same quirky personality. She makes me happy

I m going to get told off by Go Girl if I say anything about Miss Bubble, but too bad. I really am sick and tired of these ads and that child. Go for it

I’m sorry Go Girl but I really have to agree with Jacey and Don. Without repeating their views, we are all entitled to our opinions. Your reactions lead me to think we are only entitled to yours.

I absolutely agree Anne everyone is entitled to their opinion and I have no problem with people hating the ad or finding it annoying and I certainly don’t expect people to have the same views or tastes as me.I do however think that we as adults need to think carefully before we make hurtful comments about people, especially children.Surely you would not want to see any child hurt by a thoughtless remark about her acting, dancing, personality or looks or because she’s bouncy and happy. If this were your child or grandchild would you still be happy with Jadey or Dons remarks.I would hope not.

The recorder girl in the AAMI ads was WAY more annoying !

who doesn’t remember cringey / annoying ads ? Joyce Mayne ads {in Sydney} – many used to remember BECAUSE they made you cringe / whatever. So the ad achieve what it wants – for you to remember it in the future … whether you use that knowledge, then it’s up to you.

You would have to be joking right?
These are the worst and most irritating ads I have ever seen and I think that little girl ‘Sunny’, ought to be banished from planet earth. If these appalling ads changed my behaviour in any way it would be to commit to never buying a Suncorp product for the rest of my natural life!!!!!

I think sunny is a joy to watch, she acts very natural and is just doing a job and a great one at that. Perhaps all the knockers that they or their children/grandchildren don’t have the personality or talent to be a ‘Sunny’. Get over it and stop being negative about such a bright talented child

I detest it when corporations use young children to promote product that should be left to an adult to decide

I hate these ads to the point that I complained to Suncorp, but they weren’t interested. What an annoying smart alec brat who runs out of control in the ads. Seriously considering closing my bank account and moving all my insurance elsewhere. That’s if I can find a branch now that so many are closed.

Suncorp needs to do something about there actors that young girl is very annoying and have to change channel every time ad comes on … how would a girl that age know about life insurance etc etc … smarten up Suncorp not a good way of getting business

Is there a hidden cat theme in these sunny ads? I cant find something in every ad but i do in most

Why does Suncorp have to resort to using a child to sell adult products. The ads are so annoying I have sworn never to give any business to Suncorp.

When you make the choice to become famous you need to accept various types of criticisms. So sorry to burst your bubble Go Girl, but the girl in the ads needs to hear it to prepare her for the dog eat dog world of entertainment.

Talented 10 year old Mackenzie Thomas (Money with Sunny) of Point Break Drama Acting Studio attracts attention. Compare and contrast with Severn Cullis-Suzuki (12 years old when given media attention) and Greta Thunberg (15 years old when given media attention)
