‘Are you ready to money with Sunny?’ asks Suncorp in Thrift Shop music video homage
Suncorp has launched a new ad campaign ‘Are you ready to money with Sunny?’ which mimics Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop music video.
The ad, created by Publicis, features a young girl Sunny as she runs through shops dragging her mum behind her, dancing, buying a house and looking at a large piggy bank.
At the beginning of the ad, Sunny pulls $20 out of her pocket as she “spends better” and “saves better”.
The tagline used at the conclusion of the ad is ‘Suncorp, create a better today’.
In March last year, Pubicis Groupe was appointed to the brand’s creative and media account tasked with repositioning the Suncorp brand. To do so, it created a bespoke agency to service the Suncorp account.
Publicis Groupe’s Managing Director, Simone Waugh, said in a statement: “We know Australians are overwhelmed by where they want to be in their future and how they’re going to get there – so they do nothing.
“Finances should be a family conversation and the style of the communication should help this.
“The Sunny campaign leverages Suncorp’s 100-year heritage in being there for customers in the moments that matter most. Sunny marks a new era for the Suncorp brand and will make banking and insurance tasks easier and ultimately make dreams feel more attainable.”
Kristi Woolrych, executive general manager of brand and marketing at Suncorp, added: “Our research tells us that money is the number one anxiety for many Australians, and they’re lacking confidence and knowledge to take control of their finances.
“Sunny aims to give Australians simple steps to spend better and save better through insights, support and tools to help them make positive choices about how they approach their finances.
“It’s also about helping customers dream bigger, and for us that means enabling them to chase their goals and protect the things that matter.”

Do publicis do advertising or are they just a holding group?

Actually at the start of the ad she finds the $20 on the ground and makes no effort to find the real owner. Way to promote honesty there.
User ID not verified.
So Suncorp is publicizing the poor level of honesty of a child with a money found on the ground. This what now Suncorp is teaching the society, a degraded morality?? How these ads goes out to public in the first place? Where is ACCC?
User ID not verified.
To be honest, it’s pathetic how they use little kids to sell financial products, which obviously are not designed for the public good, but to make money for these dodgy companies #royalcommission

I have just seen this add for the first time- it is terrible! Why on earth would a reputable financial institution want to associate themselves with a song that references shoplifting in the mimicked verse, And alludes to the unhealthy lifestyle referenced in the rest of the song. I love this song and Macklemore, but associating this with childhood spending and saving habit is just lewd. I suggest it is taken off the air. Terrible work Publicis.
User ID not verified.
Yes, especially when the lyrics include (in the ad itself) “this is f**king awesome” WTH!!! Did no one at suncorp see that or do they just not care? Probably the latter.
User ID not verified.
It’s a shocker or an ad. Does Suncorp even know what that song is about? And why are they using a child…a child who find $20 and very quickly decides to keep it.
User ID not verified.
Omg have these people got any idea of the lyrics in this song.Having young children associated with a song that says whatup I’ve got a big c### K. Ru serious.
User ID not verified.
Disgraceful!!!!!!!! Has Mr Cameron even heard the words to this song, no he is to busy rebranding and spending money on
Things that is turning suncorp into a disaster.

This ad is played way to many times on television and has made everyone in our household never to save with suncorp as the Ad is just down right annoying and the company has waisted there money on air time.
User ID not verified.
Hate, hate, hate this advertisement. The precocious Americanised child is so polarising. Closing my accounts at Suncorp and moving on. Question your creatives re this direction? Screams try hard!
User ID not verified.
At the beginning of the ad the little girl finds the $20 on the ground and she keeps buying things instead of looking for the owner as if it’s alright too keep if you find money. The ad promotes a very dishonest attitude or a bad example for the kids and this should be stopped broadcasting. This is not a ignorable thing and we cannot rely on Suncorp because of this!
User ID not verified.
At the beginning the little girl finds $20 and starts spending instead of looking for it’s owner, as if it’s always alright to keep money if found; this promotes a very dishonest attitude or bad example for the kids. Suncorp cannot be trusted.
User ID not verified.
What are you thinking Suncorp?
I would be asking for a refund from your advertising agency.
This is absolute trash featuring a spoilt, over indulged child representative of the worst traits of consumerism.
Obviously appealing to a Kardashian audience.
Guess what? They are not the predominant account holders at your institution.
This advertisement is doing your brand reputational damage. No one trusts the banking industry right now. This greedy, materialistic vibe you are creating with this ad just confirms what the public percieves you as.
Pull this ad now while there is still time!

As an older Australian I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of morals Suncorp is promoting in this advertisement. What ever happened to common decency and respect?
The NRMA and Westpac advertisements about mateship and offering a helping hand are what makes us Australian.
Not some poor child in make up dressed as an adult and bossing her poor harrased mother around. She is a naughty girl and badly behaved.
You ought to be ashamed Suncorp.
Glad I have never been a customer.
User ID not verified.
Another ad with obnoxious child with no respect.
Thank goodness for the remote control
User ID not verified.
I had to laugh at the girl finding $20 and winking to the camera. Does this mean suncorp is promoting investments derived from a dodgy income source? Lol #suncorpfail
User ID not verified.
James I could not agree with you more on this!!!
User ID not verified.
I am thrilled to see that there is not a single positive comment about this ad. It has got to be one of the worst ads ever made for banking. You don’t make money, you ‘find’ it, and then immediately drag your parent through shops where $20 will buy you nothing, so Mum is going to be expected to fork out hundreds. To be honest, this is the attitude of kids these days, they expect everything to be handed to them with no effort or thanks on their behalf, but why a financial institution thinks promoting these ideas as part of its core workings is a good idea, I cannot fathom.
User ID not verified.
i think it is disgusting that this little girl just finds a $20 on the ground and winks because she knows it is wrong and the add carries on. Is this what we want to teach our children.
User ID not verified.
It is a shame for Suncorp that Publicis has really missed the mark with this ad campaign. I work in a large office and this ad was a recent topic of conversation. Not one person liked the concept, the child character, or the music. A lot of people did not understand what the ad was trying to say?
People are very critical of finding the $20 on the ground and the child snatching it up and grubbily shoving it in her sparkly bag. The knowing wink from a child is cringeworthy. Is she saying “…. I know I have done the wrong thing but lets pretend we didn’t see that……” Just awful!
Sure that this money grabbing, dishonesty is not something Suncorp really wants to promote?
User ID not verified.
So what is to become of Sunny in future ad’s?
I see the next ad as being that Sunny has taken the Thrift Shop lyrics to heart and is now a pick pocket and shop lifter. Lots of Thrift Shop music is played with a dance sequence.
We see her rumnaging through random stolen wallets and purses lifting the cash. She heads to her local Suncorp branch where she deposits the money in her account and winks knowingly at the teller who winks inappropriately back at her?
Aaaah! Sunny’s dreams are more attainable.
User ID not verified.
I hate, hate, hate this ad with a passion, from the precocious brat at the centre of this mess, the god-awful synchronised dancing, to the opening bland lyrics; ‘what, what, what, what, what’, seriously if you don’t know what you’re singing, then don’t sing. It grates like nails down a chalkboard.
I mute the TV everytime this crap comes on and lately they play it twice on every block of ads, like one time around isn’t enough, we’re plagued with a encore of bad U.S style dancing and repetitive lazy rapping. Utter garbage!
User ID not verified.
Way to go Publicis! Your self indulgence and ‘creativity’ know no bounds. The creatives will be forced to by their clothes at a thrift shop very soon after this balls-up.
User ID not verified.
Terrible ad. The girl finds the money on the ground and hide it in her bag…with a sly wink to the camera. A dishonest act and not a good look for a bank.
User ID not verified.
I’m disgusted by Suncorps’ ad where a child STEALS $20 with her Mother’s approval. (Yes you are ACTUALLY required to lodge found cash at a Police Station)
And what about that dreadfully inappropriate soundtrack for the new ad….
“What what what what
I’m gonna pop some tags
Only got twenty dollars in my pocket
I, I, I’m hunting, looking for a come-up
This is fucking awesome
Nah walk up to the club like, what up, I got a big cock!…”
Enough said – Suncorp have totally lost the plot and their advertising agency is a bunch of retards.
I’ve several hundred K in term deposits maturing in a few months with Suncrap, but they will never see that money ever again.
Any bank stupid enough to think this type of ad is appropriate, is just too damned stupid to risk my cash with.
Good bye Suncrap.
User ID not verified.
I totally agree with you. Is this the morals a banks wants to impart to the next generation? They are shameless! So glad I don’t bank with Suncorp!
User ID not verified.
Do you really think that was her idea?
User ID not verified.
they could be trying to distract people from the banking commission by getting people to talk about their terrible ad instead.
Except they were intending it as good brand building rather than a terrible ad.
User ID not verified.
Ummm? anyone know where I can buy her T-shirt?
User ID not verified.
Such a self indulgent advertising agency full of such creative genius backed by a client that obviously has no idea using a totally inappropriate song and (with respect to the little girl) a self indulgent me child.
As for the song please do some research everyone it isn’t even funny to blank out the offending words. Triple J top 100 winner yes probable relevance to a Suncorp customer hmmmm.
Result “This is —-ing awful”
User ID not verified.
The unanimous negative feedback must be getting to the right people. I saw a version of this ad last night. The scene with the $20 snatch and grab has been totally cut out. The running through shops dragging her mother- totally cut out. So what is left?
The ad now looks something like this. The child gets off the bus, winks, dances to the inappropriate song, points to the enormous piggy bank in the sky. That’s it!
So what meaningful message is this Improved ad imparting about Suncorp????
The inappropriate song and ending with the implied swear word still exists. “…. This is *&^%$#@ Awesome!…..”
Is that the take home message that Suncorp wants us to remember… a song with an implied swear word…. IS that what they consider their credibility, vision and brand positioning to be based on?
Just bite the bullet and withdraw the advertisement. It has not worked on a number of levels.
User ID not verified.
Haven’t seen a better ad since that one with Ben Johnson for the betting company that got pulled off the telly.. It really does shout ‘I’m still cool’ like a tragic drunk 40 something at a nightclub. Just stick to selling insurance you try hard clowns

When I saw this ad , I couldn’t believe it !
The girl found $ 20 and she put in her bag straight away and wink !
And tell us spend wisely with someone’s
money ?!
Is that ok to put on air in Australia ?

Go Bery! I agree we need to return to old fashioned family values and not American inspired rubbish. The NRMA and Westpac ads are much better?

HaHaha. Good point Nev. Might be taking lessons from CBA! What a disaster that is.

This is the most annoying ad since Coles prices are down

These bunch of ads would have to be the most annoying ads on TV at the moment, if I could afford a new TV, I’d smash the crap out of the one I have if I see any of these pathetic ads ever again.

Finding money and making no attempt to find the owner – Theft by finding. ??
Who would have thought that this was appropriate with the banking royal commission findings.
User ID not verified.
You forgot to mention that the girl found the money on the ground and out it in her pocket. Didn’t try to find owner, not a very honest thing, allowing people to think you just keep stuff
User ID not verified.
Exactly, very dishonest
User ID not verified.
Her mother could have refused the job, didn’t need to have the child in this dishonest advert, they probably think bad publicity is better than no publicity. Not happy and glad to see others have the sane view
User ID not verified.
What is the name of the child actress in the add. She will go far. The add shows she is smart. If she asked if anyone lost $20, every lying con artist would say its theirs. I also like the TV add and also the water slide. But the dance add where she gets lifted up is so good.
User ID not verified.
Why so much hate? Child does not deserve criticalicism. Not a good advertisement but people at ad company try hard. Sad they fail. They must feel bad. We not good idea to make feel worse with more hate. Feel sad for Suncorp. ????

Hope you get the royalties mate when they pinch your idea and make this ad. Haha LoL????

To all of the stuffed shirts that say that the girl should have found the owner of the money all in a 40 second ad and then try to get the ad message across as well????? Wake up stupid people, she winks because it is her lucky day (and someone is unlucky…..that’s life. Get over it). And to the person who says they will pull out their $K’s investments well I’m gonna put that much in because of this ad. Dumb wingers!

In my 70s and love this ad.Can’t believe some of the comments.Come on people it’s 2018 not 1950 and wowsers like you are why Elvis was only able to be filmed above the waist,Rock and Roll music was banned and people were shocked when the word Damn was spoken in Gone With The Wind.Like it or not this is the music my grandkids listen to F words and all.If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s that fighting change just makes you miserable to be around.

Holy keyboard warriors!
The ad is fantastic – it’s engaging, has a catchy song, Sunny is adorable and it actually makes you pay attention.
From a re-branding perspective the agency hit the nail on the head, positioning the Suncorp brand as engaged, current and inter-generational.
I honestly can’t understand the negativity associated with all of these comments, which tends to make me feel they are either working for the competition, or are paid to troll. To place such a huge focus on the fact that Sunny found the money on the ground which is “dishonest” and “unethical” is grasping at straws; the ad is fun, it’s not designed to provide a lecture on the ethics of lost and found.
I say well done to the agency and Suncorp.
User ID not verified.
Finally some balanced arguments. Keep them coming from the “normal” people. And David hit the nail on the head; there are professional trolls that push their stupid political correctness agenda.

Well said
User ID not verified.
I am a little surprised at the the recent insinuations of professional trolling against Suncorp. We live in a democracy and everyone is entitled to an opinion. This particular advertisement evokes strong reactions. It is a love /hate response with no middle ground it appears. If you subscribe to the theory that any publicity is good publicity then Publicis has done their job. Lots of people are discussing this particular advertisement. Whether you love it or hate it, it has evoked some response. Job done by the agency responsible for this.

I also love this ad.So current.Shame they didn’t air the full version though as it showed her returning the money which would have stopped some of the haters plus the fact that it was brilliant. Disappointed that with nearly 60k views on Facebook and only about 200 bad comments that they cut the add yet again to suit the minority.Thrift Shop went to no.1 on the charts when it was released so very popular song regardless of its words and swearing was removed so WHAT are they winging about.GO SUNNY.

Since the commercials began Suncorps customer base has increased from 8.1millIion to 9 million. Clearly the marketing has worked, everyone is always looking for the negative swing on things. Old saying goes like this… Nothing nice to say? Don’t say anything at all.
Just think how exciting it would be if they designed a social media platform aimed directly at negativity, get back in your corner…. TROLLS

Yeah Jeff close down your accounts with Suncorp over an ad I’m sure you and your pocket money will be very missed because everybody knows that making rash financial decisions based on frivolous ideas of how an ad should be is key to success.

Actually the girl gives the $20 back to the owner later in the commercial if you watch the full version.

This ad must be one of the most irritating things seen on TV since the horrible child in the Sydney Olympics. A smarmy little girl calling her dad “Good Chap” doesn’t mean Suncorp has anything to offer anyone..
User ID not verified.
Totally agree, David. Sunny is so cheeky and cute that I stop in my tracks and watch the ads every time! Not saying that I endorse the song lyrics, nor the fact she finds $20 and keeps it. But she’s great, talented and will go far. And she actually says ‘thank you’! Now that’s rare nowadays.
User ID not verified.
OMG if I hear this ad one more time today….. I used to love this song but they have ruined it for all time. Why is it on every frickin youtube video I watch, they must be spending all their customers money on advertising.
User ID not verified.
Terrible ad, I’m wondering does the child belong to a Suncorp executive?
User ID not verified.
“Horrible child” ,”smarmy little girl”, reads like you have a dislike of children in general. Sunny says “good chat” not chap. The very fact that you have taken the time to comment at all proves that the ad is doing exactly what it is designed to do which is getting the Suncorp brand out there. Before these ads (which I love love love) the only thing I knew about Suncorp was that they had a stadium.Smart people don’t deal with or not deal with a company because they do or don’t like their ads.I will check out Suncorp now that I know what they do and decide if they are right for me.NICE CHAT

While the idea of a dancing little girl is bright and upbeat, their choice of song is terrible. Have you actually read the lyrics of the song the ad mimics? If not, read them at https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/macklemore/thriftshop.html
Suncorp should be ashamed of themselves for associating an innocent young child with that song.

Not talking about this page TJ.Talking about the video on Suncorps Facebook page…55,000 views and less than 200 negative comments last time I looked. And yes I am desperate to defend it because I find some of the comments aimed at a 10yr old little girl to be absolutely appalling. She is not a thief, shoplifter or any of the other awful things she has been called. She is an actress, working her butt off to fulfill her dream and if you were the fine upstanding person you like to think you are then you would be desperate to defend her as well.Remember you are the ADULT here.Act like it.
User ID not verified.
Hi Steven, I decided to check out the Macklemore Thript Shop video for myself not because of your comments as I believe you were only showing concern for the child but because of other people’s comments of shoplifting, drug taking etc. Apart from the swearing which is quite common in music today unfortunately,my interpretation was that popping tags meant buying the goods.Nowhere in the video does it show swapping tags, shoplifting, stealing or taking drugs but people have a right to their own interpretation.I don’t have a problem with the Suncorp version as they replace f…..g awesome with this is,this is,awesome.Like the fact that you showed concern for child.

The kid and the song blow big time, even worse is the scate park ad where she tells the brain dead guys to wear helmets, I would love to give her an ouchy!!! Its a very annoying campaign everyone I know dives across the room for the remote when these Suncorp ads come on to
kill the little bugger, In that rotten little guttersnipes defence she is far less annoying than the
over caffinated freak in the previous LETS GET DOING campaign, we all hate the banks already so these hidious ads wont hurt them much everybody calls them SCUMCORP since the Brisbane floods when the shafted all those poor families

Take a good look at the post that Bruce just put up because this is a great example of what a filthy bottom feeder looks like. This how this creep talks about children.Wouldnt he be a joy to have in your family? Perhaps his time would be better spent learning how to spell as the word skate is a pretty simple word to learn.I believe that everyone has a right to like or not like an ad as it is a matter of personal choice but to make comments like these about an innocent child who is unable to defend herself is a low cowardly act by a piece of crap. You call yourself a man? Feel free to defend yourself scumbag I won’t be wasting my time replying.

So Suncorp is getting free publicity, from people complaining about their latest TV ads.

I hate that kid and this ad

Just because people talk about bad ads, it doesn’t mean it will generate them any business. Suncorp sucks and so do the other mainstream banks ripping off the average Australian with unfair charges while we all watch their CEOs being financially rewarded big time.

The ad is great – our little one loves it so much as she dances happily every time the song comes up. Way to go Suncorp!

I love the little girl in the ads not her fault the ad makes her annoying.
Not fussed on some of the ads but love the one where she is in store with all the tellies talking to the video camera in the store & mum is annoyed with her picks her up & carries her out of the store while little girl is still yelling out to a guy in the store to save big buy the big tv.
Nice to see an adult listening to a child even if it’s only in an ad.

Regadless of whether you like the ad or hate it, you have filed it away into your psyche attached to an emotion. From Pubicis point of view, this is Mission Accomplished!!! Wake up to yourselves folks. Feel free to attack me over my comments, it just means Suncorp will stay in your psyche for longer. Anyone remember the free steak knives guy…….

You want feedback and we are giving you feedback. Just because you don’t like what you see doesn’t mean you should edit them out. You’re putting positive posts up and posts from family and staff backing the annoying girl but your ignoring our posts. This makes it look like a sham. Seriously Suncorp, you are professional and you really should put our post online. We are entitled to our opinions. ?

Hi, as the comment thread shows we’ve posted a substantial amount of criticism on this campaign. In the case of your friends however, all the comments have come from the same IP address over a short period of time which leads me to suspect there is something more to your comments.
Also, many of the comments have included inappropriate statements towards the performers appearing in the advert and as such I’ve deemed them as not suitable for publication.
In short, ask your friends not to post from your internet connection, keep things civil and don’t bully young girls.
Regards,
Paul Wallbank

I have watched this advertisement on 4 or 5 occasions, and no more – by choice. Disliked it the first time I saw it. Very, very annoying. Bad choice of actors, terrible choice of song. The child presents as a spoilt brat; regardless of her potential as an aspiring actor. The ad probably won’t have much of a negative effect on her future – with any luck… I am still not sure of the message Suncorp is attempting to convey. I have seen the follow up ad, and as a result; either change the channel as soon as it starts, or mute the volume. Intensely annoying as well, (as bad, if not worse than the original) and more than enough to create a lot of negativity towards an institution who may actually have something good for the consumer. Hard to figure out why they have consciously chosen to go from bad to worse. What a shame. Westpac, AAMI, RAC and the like are some examples of entertaining ads with a clear, concise message in each….take a look SUNCORP.

Fair enough. I will tell my friends to use their own computers. Regardless we all feel the same. We don’t have a problem with Suncorp. Good luck with your campaign. ?

It’s not our campaign, Miandra. We report and you decide.
Actually Mickey is right Rosett if you watch again , cause that’s what I did the guy looking for his lost 20 in his coat jacket is given the 20 by sunny cause her face Shows that she realises it’s his. And she doesn’t actually spend it as they don’t come out with bags , Sunny is just showing that spending it all is not the best thing to do . Bigger picture is the to thrifty with your money use for greater things like a house as per the add. The ad not the clearest I agree but Maybe a lot of you should go rewatch the add.

The ad with the dancing in the rain, what a hopeless dance routine, that Suncorp customers and shareholder are paying for. It’s really a bottom shelf ad, not sure how it’s expected to represent the bank? Maybe as useless. Don’t care about the lovely young person, or any other rot, an advertisement has to be able to represent the business and promote it. All the opinion anove demonstrate it’s hard to figure out the message! Load of rubbish sick of seeing it!

No I don’t work for Suncorp nor do I consider myself to be incredibly slow.Although I will admit to not being familiar with the meaning behind a lot of the slang used today. As actions speak louder than words I rewatched the video and didn’t see anybody “popping tags” or shoplifting in it.Been in a few op shops (thrift shops) and not once have I seen an item with a security tag probably because the cost would be greater than the item. But please feel free to correct me if you feel I’m wrong.I’m always open to learning new things.

Worse than than youi adds. If that is possible.

isnt this the most annoying add on tv. All of them are. They are just stupid and do nothing to inspire me to use Suncorp, except be brand aware. if that was the point then yes, but I am aware of it, as I think it is so stupid if they agreed to this ad to promote them, there is no way I would go near them for anything financial. Suncorp inspire confidence and don’t destroy the integrity of the brand, though you may have already done that. Banks way to go what wankers. Sorry would rather deal with the big 4 and we know what they are up to..

My family all dive for the remote when she comes on….

I am more concerned about the girl talking to 3 strange men at the skate park. Aren’t we trying to teach our kids stranger danger, especially after such high profile cases as Daniel Morecombe
User ID not verified.
The three men are actors. There are camera men, sound people, makeup and costume people, producers, script writers, voice coaches, her real mother or father (who must be present during filming) her pretend mother and a heap of onlookers. Also be aware that child welfare make sure that she is well cared for.I don’t think there was anything to be concerned about here.Of course if this was a real life situation and she was not being supervised by an adult then there would be a reason for concern.Parents also need to teach children the difference between fiction and reality.
User ID not verified.
I know that all people concerned with the ad are actors. I am simply pointing out that we teach our kids not to talk to strangers, but they show a situation where the child talks to 3 strange men. Simple as that
User ID not verified.
Yes they show a child talking to 3 strange men with her mother in attendance so I can’t see why you have a problem with it.Child predators are just as likely to be trusted friends and family members of either sex so teaching stranger danger is not a solution unfortunately. We can only be vigilant.

I love that 10 year old’s exuberance it so infectious I don’t take any notice of the add, she is worth a fortune, very rare without being at all precocious
User ID not verified.
Why are Suncorp advertising with a young girl wearing full makeup. What 10 year old runs around wearing makeup and lipstick. Totally inappropriate.
User ID not verified.
No the child is not wearing lipstick or makeup Catherine.Sometimes a light dusting of powder is used for shine but this wasn’t required.

Love the ads, and love the young girl. Catchy, bouncy, sure to draw attention. Is the similar young girl in the netball ads a sister?
User ID not verified.
No just her.She doesn’t have a sister.Thankyou for you’re nice comment. All the girls in the Netball ad are gorgeous. They all had such a good time and it was a great experience meeting the Diamonds.

The girl gives the 20 dollars to the rightful owner at the end of the ad if you watch all of it

It’s an offence to find money and keep it; it must be handed to police.
Total fail

The Suncorp ads are perfect pedo bait and depict a girl with a one way ticket to narcissistic personality disorder (at least the character she is playing)
Shut it down Suncorp

Suncorp, please take these horrible Money with Sunny ads off the air. I’m sure this child is lovely in real life but her ad persona comes across as a sickeningly pretentious know-it-all mini adult. The ad with $20, yeah that’s stealing. And what little child gives grown up strangers a lecture in the park? That’s not cute. It’s RUDE! And nobody takes their umbrella out and starts dancing when the pipes in their house burst! That is %&$#ing stupid!

900k new customers? Impressive. Sounds too good to be true…because IT IS! I wonder how many customers have left?

Unfortunately for some and happily for others Suncorp decided not to take these ads off air but have already filmed and released several more.Check out Sunnys Truth Bombs on YouTube. All 7 of them.Happy viewing.

Please take these crap advertisements off the tv. The music is garbage and repetitive and that darling child comes across as a pretentious little shit.
Definitely won’t be using Suncorp for any of my business.
Ps..you might want to think about changing your ad agency!!

Stupid ad and very annoying !
User ID not verified.
Thanks Suncorp for reminding me numerous times NOT to do business with your annoying company which your ads reflect this image brilliantly.
User ID not verified.
Suncorp certainly have corporate values from the gutter by using a little kid in an ad with music that has original lyrics relating to a giant penis, stating that this if ‘f@cking awesome’. Thos should be referred to the advertising standards council
User ID not verified.
So if you were a kid and found $20 on the ground, you would try and find the owner? haha, what world are you living on?

The Coles ad is annoying, but this ad is downright terrible

To the horrible people in this thread that think it is ok to attach a beautiful child, it is not ok. She is an actress and is told what to say and how to say it. She is beautiful and talented. I hope if she ever reads these comments she understands the world is full of uneducated, mean and horrid people and not to listen to them. If you don’t like the add don’t watch it, if you don’t like Suncorp go to another banking institution but don’t attach a child for door ng as she is instructed to do. You people probably don’t have children and by your comments I suggest you never do. Keep up the good work Sunny.
User ID not verified.
Debra,
I want to know where to attach my beautiful child to? To my car bumper? I thought maybe predictive text caused the first slip, but obviously you do not know how to spell attack….. And would everyone please stop calling ads adds, ads is an abbreviation of advertisement, not addvertisement.
Is the ad annoying? Probably, but I don’t know as I tune out whenever any ad comes on TV. Is the child annoying? Yes, only because the ad agency wanted her to be that way, she is an actor, and probably a very well paid actor. Is it something that upsets me? No, I have a life, all of you get over yourselves, all the Sunny ads will be gone soon enough, replaced by something else for you to get on your high horses about.
Bring back the old John Gill “The Timber Man” ads. Now they were good ads! LOL

Would you be Mackenzie Thomas’ mother by any chance?
Totally agree with your comments Mum….

you’re a miserable git, all I saw was a stunning little girl having fun!

She is an actress, she does not behave like this in public

Lol no I’m not her mother but would be super proud if I was
User ID not verified.
Ok David, yes my spelling is atrocious but in my defence I was in the doctors wait room when reading all this horrible stuff about a child. I didn’t proofread before I hit send. But I’m sure you get what I was trying to say.
User ID not verified.
Debra,
I’m guessing you’re the girls mother. The adverts are ridiculous because they have your daughter behaving like a spoilt little brat in the commercials. Throwing confetti in the air, giving grown men advice in a skate park, running a muck in the TV section of a store, riding a huge stuffed toy in a mall, picking up $20.00 and keeping it, dragging her mother around shops, throwing bowling balls down every lane like she owns the bowling alley.
People perceive that she’s like that in real life. Sorry that your daughter is so hated as a result of what she’s been told to say and do by the advertising agency.
My suggestion? Do another commercial for another company.
I’m sure in real life she’s like any other kid and nothing like she’s portrayed on TV.
Let’s hope people forget all this negative stuff by the time she gets her next gig.
PS: Slow down when you type, you have several mistakes and it makes it hard to understand what you’re trying to convey.

Gosh, why do people think I’m this child’s mother? just because I think people shouldn’t be nasty to a child any child. I find some of these comments offensive and, if I were her mother I would be looking at bullying laws and see if they could be charged. She is an actress who is doing a job, she is told what to say and how to say it. If you do not like it, don’t watch it. Attack (spelled with a k thank you David) the producers of the ad (again thank you David). Life is hard enough people, can we just be a little kinder? I am a mother and a grandmother and it makes me so sad that this beautiful child will read such horrible comments about herself. Especially when she is doing exactly what she was paid to do and most likely being told “good job” . I had never listened to the lyrics of that song, so I listened, big deal who cares it’s a song, it was written for entertainment again a paid job. Think hard how you teardown a child, it’s says a lot about the person you are. That’s all good luck with that karma coming your way.

Nana B thank you, you are so right. I wish more people had your compassion.

What a seriously annoying ad. I hated the song to begin with but Suncorp trying to be cool and use it (it hardly fits with a dad in his dressing gown having a cup of coffee watching his kid on a trampoline in future editions of this series) is lame as hell. Just do your job Suncorp. You’re a bank. Nothing more.
User ID not verified.
I watched the advertisement for the first time today. I am a sucker for cute kids and like the ads featuring “Sunny”. I did not see her return the money, maybe the ad was edited? How many seconds into the add does she return the money?
User ID not verified.
It’s time for Suncorp to scrap the obnoxious Sunny ads, she is an extremely bad example for well behaved un-Americanized Australian children. As if we would want our children telling us how to control our finances. Time to go Sunny! you are a BRAT!
