Sunday Times to launch uber iPad app

News Corp will this weekend launch one of its most comprehensive iPad apps yet, when the UK-based Sunday Times iPad edition is released.

The app addresses some of the criticisms previously made of newspaper iPad apps that they offer a more limited offering than that available in print, and in some cases on websites. The newspaper is promising that all 12 of its print sections will be available on the app, along with new content.

News Corp is the parent company of News Ltd which owns titles such as The Australian, the Daily Telegraph in Sydney and Herald Sun in Melbourne, all of which have already launched iPad apps.

And initial complaint from those who reviewed News Ltd’s Australian apps was that the content was incomplete, although more has since been added to The Australian in particular.

The pricing model for the Sunday Times app is as a £2 per week bundled subscription which also gives users access to The Times app and both papers’ websites, which are behind paywalls. Subscribers to the print editions get the app for free, and it can also be bought at the iTunes store.
