Susannah George joins Ogilvy as its first head of film and content production

Creative agency Ogilvy Melbourne has appointed Susannah George as the agency’s first ever head of film and content production.

George joins Ogilvy Melbourne from AJF Partnership where she was a senior TV producer for four years, working across clients including Holden, Lion Drinks, Diary, Officeworks and Target.

George starts in the new role effective immediately

Last week Trimantium GrowthOps revealed it would be acquiring AJF Partnership along with seven other businesses ahead of a stock market floatation.

The newly created role aims to bolster the agency’s in-house offerings and build Ogilvy’s film and content department.

George has previously worked at other agencies including McCann Brisbane, MWO and Ogilvy London.

Speaking of her appointment George said the agency’s understanding of the changing definition of production was what attracted her to the role.

“Turning great thinking into great productions at whatever budget, length and timings has always been my focus, whether it is for big screens or for little screens.

“I think Ogilvy is finding its creative groove again and I’m very much looking forward to working with all of our clients and the fantastic agency team, whilst also strengthening Ogilvy’s in-house capabilities. I’m flattered they’ve entrusted me to lead and build the film and content department through these exciting times ahead,” George said in a statement.

David Ponce de León, ECD at Ogilvy Melbourne, said George’s appointment is part of the agency’s strategy to re-define the role of production for “a new era”.

“Production-wise, there’s a tendency to gravitate towards the same names, which is exactly the opposite of what we wanted. Suse is a next-generation production leader. She’s never been afraid to jump in the deep end and her career path demonstrates this in spades,” de León said.

Earlier in the month Ogilvy Melbourne hired Cummins&Partner’s Virginia Pracht as its head of strategy, while in June, Ogilvy Melbourne won the Cadbury creative account.
