Swerve due for June debut, US release delayed

An Australian film noir has announced it will open in June but will hold back on its US release.

Swerve, which had its world premiere at last year’s Melbourne International Film Festival, will now open on June 7.

The film will have a modest open of around 20 screens locally, the distribution company, Jump Street Films has told Encore.

Produced by Helen Leake’s Duo Art Productions and written and directed by Craig Lahiff, Swerve is an outback neo-noir story with a strong cast from Emma Booth, Jason Clark, David Lyons, Vince Colosimo and Roy Billing.

When Encore last spoke with Leake, the film, which sold to Cohen Media Group for distribution in the US, was going to see a simultaneous release however the film will now be held back in the States after a local release.
