Talk station 2GB’s ratings have dropped to the lowest levels in more than a year, new numbers from Nielsen today show.

The station saw the biggest drop in Monday to Sunday share, with a fall of two ratings points from 14 per cent Monday to Sunday share to 12 per cent.

Meanwhile, the biggest rise came from WSFM.

Breakfast:

The biggest fall from 2GB came in Alan Jones’ breakfast slot, with a fall from 18.2% to 15.4%.

Adam Spencer, on ABC702, is now the closest contender that Jones has had in recent years. Spencer’s audience went up from 13.7% to 13.8 per cent, closing the gap on Jones to just 1.6 ratings points.

The ratings released today cover October 28 to December 1 and January 20 to February 23, meaning it is hard to draw conclusions on the performance of new shows that began in January.

2UE’s breakfast talk slot, now occupied by Sarah Morice and Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, saw a fall from 4.5 per cent to 4.1 per cent.

Mix FM’s breakfast slot, now hosted by Yumi Stynes and Sami Lukis, was down from 3.5 per cent to 3.1 per cent.

The biggest winner in breakfast was WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda, up by 2 per cent to 9.2%.

The Kyle & Jackie O show remained the number one commercial FM show, with share increasing from 10.3 per cent to 11 per cent.

Drivetime:

There was little movement in the drive slot. The biggest faller was Ben Fordham on 2GB, down from 11.4 per cent to 10.2 per cent. The biggest rise in the timeslot was the ABC’s Triple J, up by 1.2 point to 7.4 per cent.

Monday to Sunday share:

The ABC had a good set of ratings in Sydney. Triple J, which tends to do well because of the Australia Day Hottest 100, went up from 5.2 per cent to 7.1 per cent. ABC702 was up slightly from 10.4 per cent to 10.9 per cent.

Southern Cross Austereo had a good set of ratings with 2Day FM up from 8.4 per cent to 9.3 per cent and Triple M up from 5.2% to 5.7 per cent.

Australian Radio Network saw Mix drop slightly from 4.5 per cent to 4.3 per cent and WSFM grow from 7.1 per cent to 8.5 per cent.

And DMG Australia saw Nova fall from 7.3 per cent to 6.4 per cent and smoothfm drop from 5.8 per cent to 5.6 per cent.

Mid-morning

2GB’s Ray Hadley saw a dramatic fall from an 18.6 per cent share to 14.9 per cent – the biggest drop in any Sydney timeslot on any Sydney station. His fall of 3.7 share points was bigger than the total audience of 2UE rival Paul Murray who had a 3 per cent share.
