Sydney radio ratings: SCA stations the biggest movers; 2GB back on top

Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) sister stations Triple M and 2Day FM were the biggest movers in the latest GfK radio ratings, as both respectively claimed a 1.1 percentage point jump in overall share.

Triple M claimed a 6.1% share in people 10+, while 2Day FM secured 5.8%.

Meanwhile, 2GB (11.8%, up 0.8 percentage points) has pipped KIIS FM (11.5%, down 0.4 percentage points) in this survey, as the Nine Radio station reclaimed its overall share crown that was briefly snatched by the ARN station last survey, for the first time in 18 years.

ABC Sydney, meanwhile, has entered the fourth consecutive survey period, starting last year, where it has lost overall share. The station had a 5.5% share this period, down 0.4 points. ABC’s Triple J saw the biggest decrease of 0.9 points in all stations to a 4% share this period.

Breakfast was a similar story. 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin show was the biggest upward mover in the slot moving up 1.1 percentage points to a 5.4% share.

Triple M’s breakfast share continued to improve after the Mick Molloy takeover at the beginning of this year. The show claimed a 5.8% share this period, up 0.6 points.

KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show remained on top with a 15.1% share, despite dropping 0.8 points this period. 2GB’s Ben Fordham followed with a 14.7% share, up 0.7 percentage points.

The new breakfast trio at Nova 96.9, Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie, was partly measured in this survey. The show did not see significant movement within the slot, with a 7% share, up 0.1 percentage points from the previous period.

In Drive, however, Nova’s Tim & Joel was feeling the absence of Kate Richie. After being paired with Ricki-Lee Coulter in March, the duo’s share in the slot has dropped 0.6 percentage points to 8%.

KIIS FM’s drive duo Will & Woody retained the overall spot, snatching a 13.7% share, unchanged from the last survey.

2GB’s Jim Wilson replacement, political reporter Chris O’Keefe, has given the station a boost in the drive slot with a 1.1 percentage point increase, securing a 6.8% share.

This survey period ran from 5 to 25 February and 26 February to 1 April.
