Sydney Water hires News Corp’s Dominic Hatfield to lead digital team

Sydney Water has appointed News Corp Australia’s former chief information officer, Dominic Hatfield, as general manager of digital.

Hatfield will be responsible for leading Sydney Water’s digital team, transforming the way the business works with data, insights and tools, and developing its digital strategy.

Hatfield said: “I am very excited to be joining Sydney Water at a time where digital transformation will play such a crucial role in determining the future shape of the organisation.

“The recent digital investment strategy at Sydney Water has set a strong path to establishing the next generation of technology foundations on which to transform the organisation. With this brings great opportunity for innovation and new approaches which is a journey that I am very much looking forward to being a part of.”

Hatfield spent five years at News Corp, starting out as head of technology transformation and shared technology services. Prior to that he spend over ten years at David Jones, leaving as general manager of information technology.

Sydney Water managing director, Roch Cheroux, said Sydney Water, were “serious” about digital transformation and Hatfield’s wealth of experience in this area, as well as his customer-focused background, “will guide the business” as it evolves.

The appointment is effective immediately.
