Welcome to Dr Mumbo’s social media quiz of the day.
Hypothetical: You run the Twitter account for a Gold Coast theme park at a particularly tricky time for public confidence.
The ride malfunctions, leaving 20 people trapped on board for the previous two hours.
Do you A) Post the below tweet or B) Not post the below tweet?
Given that the tweet has since been deleted, Dr Mumbo suspects that the social media manager for Movie World wishes they had not chosen option A.
(Hat-tip: Stephen Jeffrey)
Hootsuite scheduling. But yes, they should have been on top of it anyway.

I guess this type of incident could be a risk of queuing posts in advance and letting them auto-publish.

It strikes me that many companies, run by old-skool executives, don’t really “get” the new age of media and I strongly suspect they allocate such work to the younger enthusiastic staffers.
However, given the risks, they should assign someone (or out-source) to watch over it like a hawk.
They KNOW that if you have a ute with gold bars in the back that you don’t just leave it in the car park and go to the pub.
“Optimistic Hope” isn’t a strategy.
“We’re guarding the front door really well”
Compounding harmless Twitter fails like this one (nobody got “blown up” – to quote Ted Bulpitt) and the Census fail, and Wikileaks, and Putin-gate and many other hacks, DoS attacks, boofhead Dutton emailing Sam Maiden – HOW LONG do we think it will take for Aussie Executives to register the fact that, in this new era, their digital “stuff” has the capacity to bring the company down.
And the Guvvmint! They know a single-lane highway won’t cut it for masses of cars but they don’t “get it” in relation to the NBN and its capacity.
In some areas, daytime internet is very slow during school holidays!
On the other hand, unfettered interwebby will, in time, let Aussie Entrepreneurs make a motza. More, even, than digging up coal.
Certainly more than Apple or Adani in taxes.
(compare growth curves for BHP against Facebook)
Course, edjumakated kids good too.

Interesting that they were about to discuss a Fake News story about a man objectifying women, when in fact it is a woman who is most concerned about how she and the other guest look. Makes you wonder if we should eliminate journalism from university, and just rename it the role from journalist/report to Model/Presenter.
