Tassie awards show announces judging panel

The Tasmania Advertising & Design Awards has announced its judging line-up – with M&C Saatchi Sydney creative director Shane Gibson the jury chairman and architect Scott Balmforth on the panel.

“If my travels have taught me anything it is that great talent and brilliant work can come from anywhere. Tasmania is no exception,” said Gibson.

TADAs founder Mark Ringer, ECD of TBWA\Tequila Hong Kong, said of the jury chairman: “Shane’s grounding in design, his stellar international career and his ability to inspire made him the perfect choice.”

The jury will include Marcus Murphy, creative director of Clemenger Hobart, Kate Owen, senior designer of Futago, Andrew Timbs, creative director of Red Jelly and in a unique appointment, architect Scott Balmforth of Terroir.

Murphy commented: “It is important that our creative development as an industry isn’t stifled by insularity, which is why Scott has been invited. His firm Terroir was included in Wallpaper* Magazine’s directory of 101 of the world’s most exciting new architects, his judgement will be invaluable.”

Judging for the TADAs will take place next year.
