Taste.com.au and Sterling Publishing big winners at Excellence Awards

publishers Australia logoNewsLife Media’s Taste.com.au and Sterling Publishing were the big winners at the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards, with the recipe title taking out the top gong of the night.

Now in their 18th year, the Excellence Awards are the preeminent and longest running awards for the print and digital publishing industry recognising outstanding work by both large and smaller publishing companies.

Taste.com.au walked away with the coveted Publishers Australia Excellence Award in addition to winning  Multi-channel Brand of the Year and Website of the Year – Consumer.

Brodee Myers-Cooke was named Editor of the Year – Consumer. NewsLIfeMedia picked up Consumer Publishing Company of the Year – one of several new categories in 2014.

Sterling Publishing, which produces financial, insurance and real estate titles was named Business Publishing Company of the Year in addition to taking out Event of the Year – Business for The Adviser’s Better Business Summit and Aleks Vickovich was Editor of the Year – Business for Independent Financial Adviser.

The Australian Women’s Weekly from Bauer Media was named Consumer Magazine of the Year – above 20,000 circulation. The win capped off a good night for Bauer Media and its custom publishing division which also won Business Magazine of the Year for In The Black, Special Edition of the Year for Empire TV and Michael Sheather from the Weekly was named Journalist of the Year – Consumer.

Brisbane-based No Cure Magazine collected Consumer Magazine of the Year – below 20,000 circulation  and Custom Magazine of the Year went to Fitness First Magazine from the Active Media Group.

Small Publisher of the Year was awarded to Bombora Publishing which produces Fundraising & Philanthropy Magazine while Regional Publication of the Year went to Barossa Living by Free Run Press.

More than 400 people attended the awards dinner held in Sydney last night. In excess of 250 entries were received for the awards all judged by an expert panel of more than 35 judges.
