Fairfax running events get new sponsor with Tata Consultancy Services

Tata Consultancy Services, the headline sponsor of the New York Marathon, has signed a multi-year deal with Fairfax Media to sponsor three major Australian running events.

Fairfax and Tata Consultancy Services Partner on Three Major Running Events in Australia

TCS to be Presenting Partner of the Australian Running Festival (Canberra), Official App Partner for City2Surf (Sydney) and City2Sea (Melbourne)

Tata Consultancy Services (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, today announced it has entered into a multi-year partnership with Fairfax Events on three major running events in Australia. Under the terms of the three-year agreement, TCS is set to become the presenting partner (main sponsor) of the Australian Running Festival in Canberra, as well as Official App Partner for the City2Surf in Sydney and City2Sea in Melbourne, starting in 2018.

Fairfax Events, part of Fairfax Media, one of Australia’s most recognised multi-platform media companies, is a national leader in the organisation of mass participation outdoor running events. Fairfax’ marque running properties include the the City2Surf, recognised as the largest running event in the world, as well as rising iconic events like the Australian Running Festival. This partnership with Fairfax is TCS’ first foray into running event sponsorship in Australia, adding to the growing portfolio of global leading distance running events the company partners with, including the TCS NYC Marathon.

The partnership officially commences Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th April 2018 with The Australian Running Festival presented by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) featuring 5km, 10km, Half Marathon, The Canberra Times Marathon and the 50km Ultra Marathon. The Australian Running Festival celebrates a full weekend of healthy lifestyles, fitness and fun across five scenic courses that showcase the best of the nation’s capital. As Official App Partner for the City2Surf and City2Sea, TCS is now aligned to two of Australia’s most iconic running events. City2Surf in Sydney is widely touted as the world’s largest run, with 80,732 runners participating in 2017. City2Sea in Melbourne is growing with over 8000 participants in 2017. TCS partners with many of the world’s largest and well-established distance running events. TCS’ title sponsorships include the TCS New York City Marathon, TCS Amsterdam Marathon, TCS Lidingoloppet (the world’s largest cross-country run), TCS World 10k Bengaluru and TCS Clark Animo. TCS also has technology partnerships to provide smartphone apps and various digital technologies to Boston Marathon, Virgin Money London Marathon, Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon and Bank of America Chicago Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half and other races. The partnership with Fairfax for these running events is the latest example of TCS’ commitment to using digital technology to foster health and wellbeing. At TCS, health and wellness is promoted through TCS’ internal running program, Fit4Life. The program sees TCS making a donation to charity for every kilometre and every hour of fitness an employee logs through its internal Fit4Life app.
