TBWA and Igniting Change launch Small Ways to Shape Our World book

TBWA Melbourne and not-for-profit organisation Igniting Change have launched a book, Small Ways to Shape Our World.

The announcement:

TBWA\Melbourne and Igniting Change launch small book with very big ambitions

TBWA\Melbourne has partnered with not-for-profit, Igniting Change, to create Small Ways to Shape Our World – a practical and simple book encouraging small acts of kindness, thoughtfulness and quiet rebellion.

Whilst it will set out to raise funds for the partners of the charity – its fundamental purpose is to drive a greater sense of empathy and to invites readers to use their own resources to be part of the
solution to the ‘real’ issues facing us – whether local or global – which can often seem too overwhelming as a whole.

Short on words, but impactful in highly graphic design, Small Ways’ content is curated from a range of community partners that work with Igniting Change. Some of its most powerful and moving bite-size parcels of advice come from those who have personally lived through unimaginable hardship.

Small Ways will be available to the public via book stores from Feb 2018, but pre-orders are now available now for businesses wanting to give staff, clients or suppliers a fresh, innovative and non-
denominational holiday present.

TBWA\Melbourne CEO Kimberlee Wells says being involved in the creation of Small Ways was an opportunity for staff to see, hear and feel the issues troubling society first hand.

“Creativity to move the world forward is our mission at TBWA. Small Ways aims to show that through greater empathy and respect for ourselves, our neighbours and our world we can create a
better society. We don’t need charity, we need change. A change in attitude, a change in behaviour, and a change in the way minority groups are represented in communication.

“Small Ways forces introspection of our own biases. It challenges us to think about our own behaviours. And hopefully it provokes a conversation – whether that is an internal conversation or
one with another person.

“Everyone who picks up the book is moved differently. My favourite provocation is ‘what right do you have to be here?’ It brings a whole new lens to the topic of inclusion. I’m always curious to see
what resonates with each person.”

Igniting Change Founder, Jane Tewson, says whilst the book is a huge team effort, it’s the contributions from people who’ve personally lived through hardship that is the most profound.

“People said that if they could encourage people to just listen to them without judging them, they felt things would change. If people would stop giving to them but instead work with them, to stop
talking about them without them, they could be part of the change too.

“We are very grateful to the team at TBWA\Melbourne and our publishing partners, Hardie Grant, who will help us both raise funds and send little waves of positivity throughout our communities.

Cost for corporate pre-orders are: $10 plus GST for orders under 100, $8 plus GST for orders over 100 Any profits made will go towards the 50-odd brave community organisations Igniting Change
has the privilege to support.
