TBWA Sydney promotes Katrina Alvarez-Jarratt to ECD

TBWA Sydney has promoted Katrina Alvarez-Jarratt to the role of executive creative director.

Alvarez-Jarratt has been with the agency since 2016, working across accounts including Tourism New Zealand, Pepsi, Woolmark and Optus.

TBWA Sydney chief creative officer Evan Roberts said: “Alvarez-Jarratt epitomises everything we want this agency to be. She’s got a team first mentality, is open minded, curious and is relentless in her pursuit of disruptive ideas. Pair that with the fact that she has been around our best work, trickiest briefs, building our creative culture and you can see why she is so important to us. I’m thoroughly thrilled to make this appointment and recognise her ongoing contribution.”

Alvarez-Jarratt said of her appointment: “In my time at TBWA I have been very lucky to have been able to work with, learn from and be supported by some of the best in the business. I hope that in this new role I can pass on some of that good stuff to those around me. I’m beyond stoked and I can’t wait to create a space where our creative people thrive, feel inspired and make the best work of their careers.”

Along with the promotion of Alvarez-Jarratt, TBWA Sydney has also appointed two creative directors:  Bec Johnson-Pond and James Sexton.

Johnson-Pond has relocated to Australia from New York where she spent four years at Anomaly. It also marks her return to the TBWA collective, after spending two years at TBWA Chiat Day. Sexton has been promoted after two years with the agency as associate creative director. Current creative directors Nev Fordyce and Stu Tobin round out the TBWA creative leadership team.

Earlier this year the agency also hired art director Melissa Hawkett from M&C Saatchi and copywriter Henry Wall from CHE Proximity Sydney.

“While we are here talking about individuals and their achievements, it’s the collective that we are all excited by. We believe our best work comes from harnessing the power of the collective and making sure all voices are heard. COVID-19 hardships aside, we’ve been lucky to experience steady growth and our people are entirely to thank for that. They really are a wonderful mob, who genuinely care for each other and the work. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together in the not-too-distant future,” Roberts added.

Last week, TBWA Sydney promoted Nitsa Lotus to the newly created role of chief growth officer from her role as managing director.
